This only happens when someone is creative. This might be intresting because of the creativity needed to make a character, which can tie in with creative writing, though you might need less. I think that imaginary friends are a concept that would be intresting, though it does not seem plausible for me to get an imaginary friend.

I've always wanted  twin sister who thinks, does, and talks like me. I can imagine having fun with myself, if that makes sense. someone who basically is me sounds like fun to be with. i guess if I imagined another me would only I see her? Would it be Taylor1 and Taylor2?  I wonder if I'd ever actually see and believe she is there. How would I hear her voice? Would I physically talk to her, or would it be in my head?

To be honest, I probably wouldn't imagine my imaginary friend in this world, but instead me in their world.
