What do you think Jefferson meant when he wrote that quote to James Madison? Do you agree or disagree with Jefferson?

when Thomas Jefferson said that statement, I think he meant not to rebel easily. i think his point was to jot jump the gun when the subject of war and rebellion comes up, because the country was weak and in a stage of development.

When Jefferson wrote this quote to Madison I think his point was to tell Jefferson that the people have the power due to their rights to voice their opinions, vote, etc. I agree with Jefferson because even in todays day and age this is true. Just because government officials have "power over us" we however also have power on them, as quickly as we can give them power we can also take it away. An example of this is that we have the right to overthrow our government if we dont like the way they are running it as a country.

When Jefferson Wrote the letter to james madison i think that

he wanted to show people that they too have a voice in the goverment.I agree with jefferson.

I agree with Abby, when Thomas Jefferson said this, he meant that people do have power, because people have rights. Many people are entitled to their opinion, and many times they share a strong opinion, even if a debate may follow. But that doesn't matter, because we should be able to do that anyway. Yes, people do have power over us, but that doesn't mean they control us, because we DO have rights. As citizens we also do have more power than you would think.
