Physics Games - Guess the Dino Weight...and Height

What I learned:
Science is everywhere and everything.

Possible implementation within the classroom:
- The dinosaur song/sing a longs covered content specific literacy with specific dinosaur names, included numeracy and counting down, used hand, face and body gestures for attention and engagement. Some prompted physical child engagement with creating their own dinosaur movements. These could all be used as brain breaks and as lesson introductions in the classroom.

- The dinosaur activities all gave students the platform to voice and show their personal opinions and collaboratively present the results using graphs. They were inquiry based activities (ranging from structured, controlled, guided and then to open inquiry), and with appropriate scaffolding would cater to all learning levels.

The activities cover many general capabilities with literacy, numeracy, critical and creative thinking etc while having the ability to be altered to include and touch on cross curriculum priorities like ATSI Histories & Cultures and sustainability.

Through planet bingo, I learned that there are many fun ways of including science in the classroom through games, rather than just raw content delivery. This game is perfect for kids learning about characteristics of planets and builds upon their application of important scientific skills such as literacy, inquiry, applications and understanding of classroom concepts and critical thinking.

Some possible applications of this game could be for a class just learning about given characteristics if planets, planetoids and other objects that exist in space such as asteroids, galaxies, etc. This game could easily be applied into a class as it caters for diverse learning and could easily lead into an inquiry activity to further knowledge as well as expand understanding. This activity could be used to measure student understanding if concepts in a formative way instruct teachers on what else needs to be covered in the class.

I learned about just how many different objects and materials are actually recyclable. This activity would be great in a class of younger primary students, perhaps around year 1 or year 2, as it does a great job implementing science knowledge with fine motor skills (cutting).
