In class I have learned how to have passion for a different style of writing. This semester was more academic style of writing which was different from creative writing. I learned how to be more critical and observant of my own major and career path.

In WP#2 I learned and experienced what is was like to do extensive research and how to evaluate and annotate each of those sources for a bigger essay.

In Writing Project #3 I learned what it was like to an academic journal style essay with the title page, abstract, intro, body paragraphs, conclusions, and reference page in APA format. I was also able to challenge undergraduate nursing programs that allowed me to open my eyes to the faults and gaps in the healthcare curriculum and healthcare system.

In this course we focused on being more accurate and credible. We learned more about fallacies and how to avoid them in Academic writing. We also focused on how to be more thorough in our writing with using the KWL chart insuring that the information we know, learned, and questions we were left with are also incorporated and answered into our essay.

Before writing WP#3 we had WP#2 that allowed us to do research and annotations of sources for WP#3. With WP#2 we had to write a proposal and find 10 sources consisting of 5 academic articles, 1 book, 1 magazine, and 3 other sources. Which was able to prepare me to write the lengthy extensive argument. Also for WP#3 we had to create an outline that was able to allow me to be more accurate and thought out for writing WP#3.

In RRL#6 the informational synthesis we had to chose two possible sources for WP#2 we had to compare the differences, similarities, and how those sources will work together for WP#3 and drawing new conclusions. And for WP#2 annotations we had to evaluate each of the sources and state how it passed the CRAPP test. Both of those assignments allowed me to be critical of the sources I would use in WP#3.

For WP#2 and WP#3 those were the most time consuming essays for this course. WP#2 made is easier to go into writing project 3 because I had already done the research and had the sources I needed for the extended argument. It still had to be accurate and credible, it had to pass the CRAAP test which we were able to evaluate in WP#2. And to citations and the format of the essay were APA which took some getting used to. For the citations I heavily relied on Purdue owl for APA7 citations.

When considering the audience, purpose, and content of the essays we have had to write in this course I have realized that I have written for incoming students deciding with nurse school to go to and to students and faculty in undergraduate nursing programs. For incoming students I wrote about Nevada State and its nursing program and how there is more opportunities and room to grow at Nevada State than at UNLV.

And for students and faculty in undergraduate nursing programs I wrote about the lack of diversity being taught in it curriculum specifically Sexual Gender Minority diversity.

For incoming students my positionally in that essay was different than the essay for faculty and students. For the incoming student I was able to touch into my own experience because I am a student at Nevada State. And for the student and faculty I relied on my research and sources to complete my extended argument.
