1. How can you build confidence as an educator after coming out of the pandemic? I believe that we all can build confidence after the pandemic through giving ourselves grace as we embrace the struggles that the pandemic has placed before us. While keeping in mind that everything is not going to be perfect, but knowing that as an expert in this field that we have what it takes to get to the other side. Also, as begin to operate in our new normal we can remain reflective on what has been and what is to come and continue to work towards becoming the best practitioner you can be.

2. How can you spark confidence in your students and teachers? I like what she says about Permission, Community and Personality. I believe that if you give teachers the permission to show up as their authentic self and empower their creative juices, while celebrating them and the teaching personality that they bring to the table through a community of people that is willing to help them achieve and adjust their goals in a realistic way.

If students and staff see us doing positive things and embracing challenges then it will promote confidence in other doing the same thing.
2. I think we can spark confidence in students and staff by encouraging them to take chances and speak their mind even if it seems like a difficult task. Set small goals so they can get little victories that will promote them taking chances, which will ultimately build confidence.

1) How can you build confidence as an educator after coming out of the pandemic?

Remember your why...this is pretty simple. If you lose track of why in education, take a look at a group of students who are fighting to break out of a cycle of poverty wanting to know how they can take honors classes, or CCP, a student athlete who sits in the front row because he wants a college scholarship, a student who wants attention, but just really needs to be challenged, confidence comes from remembering where you came from; and why you wanted to get into education. No, nothing will ever be the same, but many that look to you will reflect from the energy you give.

2. How can you spark confidence in your students and teachers?

Education has changed, and has yet to completely evolve. Even before the pandemic, there were cracks, however the pandemic made holes. I have learned, students will express themselves in non-traditional ways now, the ways in which we grew up believing was the standard in which we MUST go by in education must be re-evaluated. Student AND Educator confidence can be sparked by something as small as a tiny bit of affirmation, or a positive phone call to a parent rather than a negative one...or a knock at an educators door telling them they are doing an exceptional job. Something I ALWAYS tell my students, and educators can relate is that... "If you aren't failing, you aren't trying..." Yes, Woody Allen quotes might not be ideal; but I agree with the statement. Encourage ideas, and ways to reflect from your decisions. Students need CONSISTENT hope, and also need assistance in their goals, no matter big or small. Educators need assurances, their confidence comes from knowing they are trusted with their practices in the classroom.

1. As an educator coming out of the pandemic, I can build confidence by giving myself permission to make mistakes as I am still new to my role. Through my mistakes I am able to learn, grow, and become more confident as a CDC. By creating community with fellow co-workers, I can build confidence by giving and receiving true support and encouragement. By being curious, I can open myself up to exploring areas that I may have been originally hesitant to explore.
2. I can spark confidence in my students by speaking positive words of encouragement and by being available whenever needed to meet one on one to assist and support. It is my desire to create a sense of community that encourages ALL the students that I work with to know that I believe in them and that I have an open door policy. By creating a sense of community with my coworkers, we can build a stronger team that can better instill a higher level of confidence in our students.

1. As an educator, we have the responsibility to build relationships and inspire confidence. Being the positive role models students need to see is imperative. The Pandemic caused an shift in prospective as well as performance, and it also provided a disconnect to many students who thrive on the in-person interactions and ways that educators interact. Working in the virtual environment allowed for those students who already lacked confidence to gently fade into the backdrop. Post pandemic has been a challenge for many; however as educators we must consistently find ways to interact and meet students where they are. In doing so, we motivate them to take risks, create challenges that will help them to build the confidence that they need to be successful. Start with small wins, and give feedback when something positive has been accomplished. Reinforce the need always be confident in your daily interactions and lead by example.
2. As educators, you must think outside the box to find relevant ways to help students to understand the value of their education on a daily basis. Engage and request student feedback on what and how they learn best, and simple "pivot" to meet some of those goals. If we work together as a team, and enlist the assistance of parents and community, we can create more well-rounded, socially accepted scholars. If they see that their ideas and suggestions are valued, this small jesture can boost their confidence. Small wins, can provide big results. Consistency is key, always demonstrate your confidence and require nothing less than that from your students.

1. How can you build confidence as an educator after coming out of the pandemic? Coming out of the pandemic our CPCC enrollment for students of color drastically dropped. We are working on in classroom goal setting plan that have student's identify their goals for post high school. Then the ELL team with CDC help gives them stepping stones to achieving realistic steps in reaching those goal. 2. How can you spark confidence in your students and teachers? I spark confidence in my student by showing each student they have a path. While their path may not be as direct as they want it to be, there is a successful road. I like to link my experiences finishing a Technology Certifications in High School of Cosmetology. Then moving to Military to pay for college. Then a tech school to save more money the first 2 years.

How can you build confidence as an educator after coming out of the pandemic? For the first year of the pandemic every day was “Blursday”. I moved forward but everything felt so surreal. I didn’t even pay attention to the news what are the new Covid restrictions because I knew that everything will change the next day anyway. Thankfully there were some silver linings but The uncertainty was very discomforting and threw me off balance at times. I try to remind myself that the only thing certain about life was change and try to keep reminding myself of the goal of helping all students and my school community. I think when you have a few overarching goals it is helpful just to remind yourself of them.

How can you spark confidence in your students and teachers? I feel like I’m always saying the phrase that there are multiple paths to success. I truly believe that. For some people it’s college, for other it’s the military, for other it’s a trait. I read Michelle Beyers’ entry above and it sounds like she had all three! I try to show as many examples of the multiple paths as possible and try to support students in as many ways as possible. Half the battle is getting the word out there-being like a one woman ad agency for the Career and College center and getting the word out about all of the opportunities out there.

How to spark confidence in your students and techers?
When we think about developing confidence, we might think about preparing students to talk in front of the class. Yet true confidence is so much more, it’s the ability to feel brave enough to share your ideas and speak your truth. To help students feel comfortable doing this, we have to create class/school cultures where all students are respected, safe, and treated fair. One way to help student build confidence is to help them unpack what confidence means. Have students reflect on times when they've felt confident and times when they've felt less confident. They can also reflect on times when they were successful. Reflecting on past success gives students the energy they need to tackle another obstacle.

How to build confidence as an educator coming out of the pandemic?
It's not an exaggeration to say that the Covid-19 pandemic will possibly change us for life. We've all been through unprecedented challenges. The way we work, socialize, and go about our daily lives has been deconstructed as we've been forced into a new way of living. It's no surprise that our confidence may be fragile. Our confidence can waver when we're out of practice like any habit. I am somewhat still anxious when I'm at work, but I always reaffirm that I have faith and can do all things through "Christ," who strengthens me. My self-talk is how I build self-confidence, I stay away from the negative folks, and I don't allow them to consume my inner thoughts.

I think we spark confidence in teachers and students by being present, showing up for others. Go to a play, go to a sporting event, be a club advisor and show up for our students outside of the classroom. The same is true for our teachers. Visit their classes and let them know they are doing a great job teaching despite covid and all of the pressures of being a class room teacher.

Building confidence: I believe we always need to start by meeting our kids where they are, whether it’s emotionally, socially, etc. Our past shapes so much about us and to help our students/teachers become more confident the first step is acceptance. Like every other story all of our paths to confidence vary, some straight lines, some squiggly ones:) The important thing is that we are patient and compassionate. By exposing our students to opportunities we help show them their are no limits and that working through failures and successes is what we all go through. That’s one of the ways we help build confidence.
Sparking Confidence: Stress the importance of who they already are and help them find what they are passionate about. Passion always sparks learning and confidence comes with learning about yourself.

While many may not agree, the best way to build confidence in students is to make them assume responsibility. So often parents and even other teachers will reach out to me on behalf of a student. This student does not have anything invested in the process, and they sink when they are asked the simplest questions. I engage students, make sure they understand what they are getting themselves into, and require them to be involved with the process and the conversations. When they are able to do this, they find out what they are truly capable of! Teachers often see an increase in engagement in other classes because students can "handle their business" which makes a significant difference in their confidence level.

Mental Health has always been a challenge and avoided in the past. The TED talk student brought it to microscope for her state and now others. I agree that more resources need to be presented in school. Sometimes, as educators, we do write it off as a stigma among family members and have a biased opinion of siblings if we're not careful. But remember, mental health issues can and do run in the family. Until you or someone you know has mental health issues, it's difficult to be empathetic. This year, I had this SEL guest for our podcast. He was informative. https://www.kyleagreene.com/

I am 54 years old and when was in high school if someone went to a therapist they would definitely not share that with others because there was a stigma and others would have seen that as something was wrong. I think today's generation does not feel that way-we have heard so much over the past 20 years about "taking mental health days" and "self care" and other pro-mental health messages that there is virtually no stigma today. I say virtually because just like with any change, it takes time and we are blending generations - old and new - and of course not everyone in any one generation is the same...but I think the stigma is way, way less than it has ever been and many see getting "help" as a sign of strength and not weakness. Also such a large percentage of the populations has some kind of mental health diagnosis (anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, etc.) that most people either have a mental health issue or are close to someone who does. I think we are going in the right direction in terms of "normalizing" it and recognizing that if someone had a health issue like diabetes they would go see a doctor and get treated, and similarly if someone had a mental health issue like anxiety or depression then they, too, should go see a doctor and get treated. -Laura Lewin

Building Confidence: Giving positive complements to students and letting them know you recognize them as an individual. When you are critiquing something the student has submitted, make sure you also find a positive as well. In addition, calling home and speaking to a parent and letting them know how well their student is doing will really build the students confidence and belief in themselves. Sparking more confidence comes from giving them more responsibilities and accountability. When we don't trust students to complete a task, then they feel inadequate. Giving chunks for them to finish and then have them check in with you will help spark their confidence. Regarding mental health awareness, the pandemic has brought more awareness to the importance of addressing the student and families SEL. Each school is devoting time to assisting students and their families. Our Social Worker constantly shares different resources with us and the students.

There are students that go to college who do not have the resources or experiences that their peers do. I had an experience like Lyric despite being a 2nd generation college student. She is trying to convey that despite being giving the opportunity to attend college that “Access Ain’t Inclusion” (the title of the next TEDtalk video). The students who find themselves in environments that are unknown and unfamiliar can be hard to assimilate into. She did a great job while in college, but not every first-generation college student is as fortunate as she was.

2. I have the goal or not only exposing students to what their possibilities can be in college, but also trying my best to equip them with the resources and knowledge they will need to help them be successful in college. This can range from helping students understand how to make appointments with professors and/or strongly encouraging CCP students to attend office hours, to helping students learn how to mitigate issues that arise while in HS in different work-based learning, internship, or CCP spaces. If I can guide students on how to come up with their own solutions to problems, this can also help them feel more confidence in themselves when they are alone in college and needing to problem solve.

My biggest takeaway was to always engage with people who are not like you. This is true when trying not be held hostage by a stereotype and to help each of us from placing others into a stereotype. By true engagement and not just being in "the room where it happens" we can break free or help other break out of groups that have been left behind for generations.

We should always share kindness and reach out to others to learn more about them and their experiences. Also, be the same person in your personal life as well as your professional life.

I was a first generation college student. It can be scary because you don't know what you don't know. One of the biggest things that we can do is believe in the student, and affirm that they are worthy. Also, be available to provide understanding and compassions when they need help.

Also I learned to seek diversity not for a quota but to learn a person's story and that ultimately, YOU BELONG! I believe the biggest support for any student heading to college is to show up for them, support them and provide resources.

This takes the experience and they tend to shy away which means they could be missing out on a lot.

I will support 1st generation college students by being supportive and believing in them. I will try to get them connected to other student(s) at the school if that is possible. Also, I will share my experiences as I was a 1st generation college student. Mostly importantly I will instill in them that you can do anything that you put your mind too.

1. Lyric’s words were so chilling as they represent many of my own student population. I enjoyed the college perspective as often we only see this side from the high school application etc. side. I don’t always think of the other side and will make a better effort in educating students on who to reach out to at college once there. We all need resources and especially in transitions in our lives, as much as families want to help this isn’t always possible if they’ve never been in those shoes.

2. I think it is so important to take students under our wings and help direct them as best as possible. I will be more present and aware of voicing next steps for these students, as well as reaching out to hesitant/vulnerable students and to say it’s ok to be vulnerable and I am here to help you or leading them to resources.

Also reminding them that we all learn the most about ourselves through our experiences, sometimes failures, but that’s ok. I am here to help you back on your feet so let’s explore with no boundaries!
2.I believe the connection between PBL and career development lies in the foundation of students learning critical thinking skills and minds. The use of imagination and individual expression build students confidence and furthers their love of learning rather than stunting it. CDC’s encourage exploration through field trips, speakers, classroom guidance etc.

I believe that our school culture is a very important part of how our scholars respond to work based learning activities. We need for all teachers to promote career and college readiness and high expectations for all scholars. I feel like some of our teachers are working for a pay check and the students are stereotyped. We have so much potential and I'm glad that I can motivate our scholars through our career development resources. It is an expectation of excellence and I believe in our scholars.
