         <title>Why are they important to us?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>They do a couple of things:<br>1)&nbsp; They make travel coming from the east coast or Europe faster.<br>2)&nbsp; They bring goods to trade from eastern locations.<br>3)  In the past, they were an active part of the slave trade.  They brought slaves from Africa to the Americas.  Slavery is wrong and brought lots of damage to African cultures.  It is an unfortunate part of history that affected the way the United States and other countries developed.</div>]]></description>

         <title>How does it work?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Water and wind on Earth should travel in straight lines from the equator to the poles and then back again.&nbsp; But they don't.<br>&nbsp;<br>The Earth takes 24 hours to make one rotation on its axis.&nbsp; That means that a spot on the equator has to move faster than a spot at the north pole in order to get turned all the way in those 24 hours.<br><br>As the parts go faster, they pull the water and air along with them, causing the path of the water and air to curve.</div>]]></description>
