There was a decreasing trend from 4000 in the first quarter of 2017 to 2100 in the first quarter of 2018.<br>Sectors such as financial and insurance and community services see an increase in employment. These sectors are doing well,&nbsp; they are&nbsp;able to hire more people.<br>Structural employment remains a concern despite the decline in unemployment rate.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/singapore-gdp-economy-q1-2018-g2rowth-10133542">https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/singapore-gdp-economy-q1-2018-g2rowth-10133542</a><br><br>- Gross Domestic Index (GDP) grew by 4.3% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2018 (Jan to Mar), higher than that of the previous quarter of 3.6%<br>- On a quarter-on-quarter seasonally adjusted annualised basis, GDP growth fell from 2.1% in the last quarter of 2017 to 1.4% in first quarter of 2018.<br>- The manufacturing sector has boosted Singapore's economy with an rise of 10.1% on a year-on-year basis, a surge from the 4.8% growth in the previous quarter.<br>-Sectors such as construction and electronics suffer a decline in GDP due to weak performance in both private- and public-sector and the decrease in global demand.&nbsp;<br>-Sectors such as services and manufacturing experienced an increase as the GDP rise since the previous quarter in 2017.<br>- It was expected that though the construction sector remained in contraction, the sector was bound to do better in the near future as the decline flattens out.</div>]]></description>

Below the expected rise of 0.5% by economists.<br>- The CPI disinflation was due to the service inflation slowing to 1.4% in March compared to 1.9% in February and the food inflation slowing to 1.4% in March compared to 1.5% in February.&nbsp;<br>- Core inflation also eased to 1.5% in March from 1.7% in February, reflecting lower services inflation.<br>- A little bit of inflation is necessary for economic growth.</div>]]></description>
