Asian Americans decided to stop trying to be white to be accepted in society. They decided to form their own identity rather than trying to be someone they were not.

A concept and word we found interesting was "identity." "The first was the concept of identity. The supremacy of whiteness required all people of color to ruggedly declare their decolonized identity, as symbolized in the slogan 'Black is beautiful,'" on page 65 (Ishizuka, 2015).

"Having broken through the double consciousness of seeing ourselves through the Orientalizing gaze of white America, we stopped trying to become who we were not." (Ishizuka, 2018, p. 71)

A lot of people from different background felt like they needed an area that they can fit in. A lot of minorities and from ethnic background wanted a sense of belonging, however, there were a lot of stereotypes, and you are typically put into certain categories. They were put into different categories despite coming here for a better life and wanting to improve their way of living.

We Asian Americans support all oppressed peoples…

We Asian Americans oppose the imperialistic policies being pursued by the American government. (Ishizuka 62). These quotes show how AAPA joined together to over power the struggles of oppression by working together.

From whispered doubts to a roaring mark.

Hands joined, hearts aligned, we claim our space,

Breaking the molds, running our own race.

Stories once hidden now rise to the sky,

Pride in our skin, we refuse to deny.

Through struggle and laughter, our spirit ignites,

Turning small sparks into blazing lights.

No shadows remain where our courage walks,

Yellow Power shines, in actions and talks.

Individually categorized,

there was Black, White, Yellow.

Stereotypes that couldn't "mix",

but the "Yellow" found a way around that.

Reclaiming power through group action,

"Yellow" wasn't just a word,

it was a sense of pride.

More than a color,

it was a community of strength and resilience.

Yellow Power

Something that was being empowered

Something that should not cower

Something that should have the upmost importance

We should use all our willpower

To make everyone equal in our society

To reduce anxiety

To gain intersociety

Should be the goal

So let's take a stroll

To come together as a whole

But for now, Yellow Power is on the patrol

Yellow Power rose in the streets,
not with fear but with unity.
We stood with Black, Brown, and Red,
together against racism and lies.

We found our voices, we found our power.
A new identity was born through struggle.

Overlooked and mocked.

Their voices then grew,

Leaving the world shocked.

Fighting urges to conform,

They stayed true to their identity.

Making a name for themselves,

An authentic and rightful community.

There once was a time,

Asian American culture was new.

As time went on,

Their 'Yellow Power' grew.
