Simon is one of the only ones who aren't really scared because of his one with the nature. Simon takes the kids on a walk into the forest and lets them eat fruit from the trees. At the end of the chapter Simon is alone and he sits down in the beauty of the nature and is very peaceful. Ralph wants to give up his leadership because non of the boys will listen to him but Simon talks him out of it, because there needs to be someone who can control all the boys.
Monday- Simon helps Ralph carry one of the littluns back to their shelter because they found him screaming on the beach. The fear of the monster is growing by the second. While they sleep Sam and Eric let the fire go out so the airplanes over head never see them. A man falls to his death and lands in the rocks and from the wind and his parachute it makes it look like a monster so the boys begin the fear the thought of sharing an island with a monster   
 At the beginning of chapter 7 Ralph is on the beach and looking out into the water thinking they are never getting off the island. Simon comes up and reassures him they will get off the island, he gives him hope. Hope is one of the only things that can keep them going at this point. When they are all dancing and reenacting the hunt is shows they have lost anything close to a moral compass. They almost killed one of their own because they are so caught up in the thought of killing. When Jack and Ralph have it out Simon stays with Ralph. When Simon decides to go to the glade to find some peace he finds everything but peace. The head from the sow is sitting on a stick in the middle of the beautiful glade. When he approaches it the head talks to him telling him that its the lord of the flies. As soon as that happens Simon passes out. Simon is shown the be the most complex character and he is the one who thinks a head on a stick is talking to him. Simon is then killed by Roger when a rock is pushed down the hill. He doesn't have his glasses so he cant see what is coming. When he dies everyone begins to lose their moral compass. Piggy and ralph meet and decide to find the others. Piggy is clearly the smartest child in the chapter. He manages to find a large conch shell. Disregarding the seriousness of the situation the boys make fun of piggy's appearance. The first form of a government forms when the boys decide to elect a leader. The choir votes for Jack and everyone else votes for Ralph. The boys decided who ever has the conch is the leader. They send a couple of boys to explore. When they return Ralph sounds the conch and they boys have another meeting on the beach. They decide to make a signal fire but it quickly dies down. One of the younger boys goes missing during the fire and piggy complains about how reckless and stupid the group is. Ralph and simon build huts on the beach while Jack and the hunters chase pigs. Our character Jack, the leader of the choir at the beginning changed the choir into a group called “The Hunters”. As the Hunter’s leader, his plan is to hunt pigs for meat for all the boys. Even though Jack doesn’t end up being the leader of the boys, he’s still the leader of The Hunters. Our group thought this part symbolizes power and responsibilities.  (2). Jack ends up going up the mountain with Ralph and some other boys. Part of the island sets on fire when the boys made a signal fire, during this Jack becomes more cold-hearted, especially against Piggy. Whenever Piggy speaks, Jack doesn’t give him the right to speak. Our group thought that this part symbolizes power and control, setting Jack on the course of becoming like a dictator leadership. (3). Eventually, Ralph and Jack argue over what’s more important to do, build huts or hunt for meat. Cecelia thought that this symbolizes man vs man and democracy and dictatorship. 

Monday- (4). As plans to hunt the pig goes around, Jack decides to paint his face as camouflage, doing this allowed Jack to feel free from shame and self- consciousness. After succeeding, Jack overjoyed for killing the pig, sparking a switch in his consciousness for enjoying killing. Due to this hunt, the signal fire went out when a ship was nearby, Ralph and Piggy blame this on Jack, so Jack punches Piggy, breaking Piggy’s glasses in the process. Our group thought that this part symbolized violence. (5). As a meeting with all the boys start, the little kids tell the older kids that there is a “beastie” in the forest, Jack gets a hold of the conch shell and tells them to stop being  crybabies and to grow up. Piggy takes the conch shell and asks if the boys are human, animals or savages. Jack then tells Piggy to shut up and fights Piggy for the conch shell. Ralph tells Jack that Piggy has the right to speak and that he is breaking the rules, but Jack doesn’t care, he told the other boys that they don’t need rules. Adam thought that this part foreshadows a revolution between the boys; a democracy and a dictatorship. (6). Another assembly occurs about the new beast, Jack says he doesn’t need the conch shell to talk and that no one does, Jack ignores Ralph’s authority to sit down, symbolizing rebellion.

The group has had many opportunities for survival, development and rescue but due to the childish behavior of many members in the group they have missed almost all of these opportunities. In chapter four this is evident when their leader Roger engages in destroying a sand castle. They engage in other childish activities like dancing around a fire and fighting which ultimately results in breaking piggy's glasses. The kids keep seeing things and claiming they're "The beast" like a parachute. The kids see the shadow and the parachute and claim that it's a beast from the air. Piggy is one of the first characters in the book to be described and is one of the first two in the island, along with Ralph, and they both look around to find the others. Later on, Piggy finds a conch shell and creates the idea of using the shell to their advantage to be rescued. Piggys ideas and mindset separates him apart from the others because he is the most intelligent and could save the rest of the boys lives and not have them messinng around on the island. Piggy is described as a "bag of fat" by the others and "as a boy who kept to himself with avoidance and secrecy". But we also think that being bullied by the others is causing Piggy to become a sadist even more than Jack (the beast). Piggys evil motives are different from Jacks; who pursues leadership such as having a closed mind about what is more import for the group: food. And enjoying the thrill of the hunt. Monday- Ralph went hunting and got the taste of blood (what it feels like to kill). He spears a pig but the pig got away. piggy stayed back at the camp. Jack and Ralph went up the mountain after the so called monster they think is up there. ralph acts tough until they reach the top of the mountain, once they reach the top, he started shaking and chattering his teeth, they think they seen the beast. The next day Ralph and Jack are fighting, Jack is calling Ralph a cowered because he ran away from the beast but jack also ran away too. Jack got mad and told them they can hunt for their own food. Piggy and ralph have plans to build another fire for smoke to fill the sky. Ralph is starting to notice that some of the boys are missing , most of the young ins went with jack to go up the mountain to hunt.
Tuesday- Jacks group is having a problem with flies, they are in evading the pig that they killed. Jacks group in living off the beach by a big rock. The conch doesn't mean anything to jack anymore, he said on his side of the island they wont hear it. the hunters have found the beast and started to kill it, it fell down the mountain and landed on the beach. The hunters killed Simon by accident, they thought he was the beast. Jack is going hunting again he things the beast was just desci. jacks hunters are trying to scare them / distract them while they steel the fire. Jack finally breaks away from the group by leaving during one of the meetings on the beach. Some of the boys go with him except a few of the main characters piggy and ralph. Simon encounters the pig head on a stick and it talks to him. This encounter is continued in chapter 9. Jack's makes himself chief of his new tribe. Simon wakes up and staggers toward the mountain where he discovers the parachutist and he realizes that it's not a beast. He is anxious to prove it's not a beast. They kill Simon brutally when he arrives at Jack's camp. In the next chapter Ralph and Piggy's group is down to only two other boys and Jack is ruling like a dictator in his tribe. He tells the boys that Ralph's group is a threat to them and their tribe. The existence of Government on the island is a complete dictatorship. At the beginning of the book the only form of order on the island resembled a democratic government. Jack uses the beast to create an almost god like figure that inspires fear. Jack uses this fear to control the island. Ralph just wants to do the right thing. A while after Jack gains complete control Ralph decides that its time for change. Over the course of these chapters, Roger has inflicted pain on almost all characters intentionally such as joining Jacks hunting group to attack Ralph’s for fire, releasing the boulder onto Ralph but crushing Piggy to death, or even brutally stabbing the pig carcass-which represented one of the main features of the book. We think that Roger is the most dangerous-even more dangerous than Jack! Because Jack at least has some humanity, while Roger inflicts pain without second thoughts. We also think that Roger, as Jacks “lieutenant” has caused him to resent Jack because Roger is jealous of his power.           (7). As the story progresses, Jack injures himself from the boar and sucks his wound. Then he mentions to kill the littluns as a joke. After that, Jack heads up mountain to kill beast, comes back down with fear. Our group thought that this part symbolized that Jack is turning more into a savage however, he still has the innocents of a child within him. (8). Jack leaves Ralph’s tribe to create his own, as older boys join Jack’s own tribe, Jack and the hunters find a mother pig and three piglets. Jack straddles the pig and cuts her throat, he and Roger than put the pigs head on a share stick and plant its head on the ground. After that, Jack’s tribe invaded Ralph’s for fire. Our group thought that this symbolized Jack becoming more violent and uncivilized. Another key figure is that Jack had a good time killing.

       (9). Jack acts like a monarch towards his group. When Ralph says he will blow the conch, Jack argues that it doesn’t mean anything. Jack defies the system and everyone in his tribe will too. Our group that this symbolized revolution and dictatorship. (10). Jack raids Ralph’s left over tribe for Piggy’s glasses to start a fire. As a group, we thought that Jacks wildness and love for blood, power, and violence has corrupted him. (11). Ralph tries to get Piggy’s glasses back and argues with Jack, causing them to fight each other. Jack then orders his tribe to tie up Sam and Eric to make Ralph even madder, so they keep fighting. However, as Roger kills Piggy with a boulder, Ralph runs away and Jack throws a spear at him, piercing his skin. Our group thought that this symbolized Jack full development into a Beast. (12). The next day, Jack and his tribe try to find Ralph, to hunt and kill him. However, due to Ralph hiding through the forest, Jack burns down the forest just to find him. As Jack and the others are closing in on Ralph on the beach, a naval officer shows up, returning all the boys from savages to be civilized again. Our group thought that this symbolized Jack returning to his young civilized self when an adult arrived to be in charge.
