With the dependency on technology rapidly increasing, people are confident in placing their personal information on their computer. It is unethical for one to be accessing that data without permission. However, there are exceptions if there is justifiable cause for collecting another users data.

Many students break the ten computer ethics commandments on a daily basis. The most common of which, I believe, is "Thou shalt not appropriate other people's intellectual output" It is easy to claim another's material as your own, especially when the material has to do with an assignment that is due. Without the proper referencing, one is stealing their thoughts. It is also cheating in most cases to directly copy another's thoughts in your assignments. It is completely ok to utilize another's information on a subject. However, in order to do this, one must give adequate credit to those whose thoughts they are reflecting in their work. Click the link for aid in utilizing reference material without breaking this commandment.
