On the whole I found the play very enjoyable, and throughout both plays it stuck with the fact that women’s roles were important whether they were in power or not. The only thing is the message I got was that when women aren’t in power, they strive so hard to get yet will give in because they are out powered by muscle which will make them act insecure and scared and back down but then when they get the power, they seek so hard to find it makes them insane because they cannot handle it. 

Macbeth is the perfect example of this because it portrayed the role of women in power but when too much power gets to their head, they can lose it and go insane for example lady Macbeth.

The director was influenced by the OJ Simpson case which helped her portray Othello I think she did this well because Othello outlines jealousy and that is what most people thought because OJ was jealous he killed his ex-wife and ‘friend’. Desdemona was used as a mouthpiece for abuse and unloyalty towards women it shows that women would be picked up and dropped in an instance and they wouldn’t even think twice about it.

The director links both plays through the song of a mother singing to her child before dying a painful death, Desdemona reflects to this story to Amelia and it unravels that the lady she was talking about was in fact lady Macbeth.

The play is urban contemporary the purpose is that the audience can understand the plot more, there was a lot of naturalistic elements in the play e.g. guns and cigarettes. Also, elements of naturalism were shown by the tables and chairs and the use of a pizza box when Macbeth offered everyone food also, I noticed that they had no wine glasses so everybody had to drink from the same wine bottle which I found to be a bit awkward. Transitions where shown by a flash of light with a brief freeze frame before continuing.

I would recommend the play to anyone but I’d advice that they research both individual stories because they wouldn’t be able to understand it properly.

In October 2004, the Black Watch was at the centre of political controversy.

Despite objections in Parliment,the deployment went ahead.The Black Watch came under sustained attack from mortars and rockets.In november 3 soldiers were killed by a car bomb at a check point. This deployment caused a magnification of these deaths back home in britain.

Neither the murdered women or their killer are depicted, nor are the murders themselves; rather, the piece is concerned with the residents as they cope with the events unfolding around them, the media attention drawn to their neighbourhood, and their attempts to rebuild and regenerate their community afterwards. The piece does not feature main characters instead, an ensemble cast assume the roles of various locals, sex workers and reporters, and most characters are not referred to by name.

1. What is the main purpose of all productions? 

Good night mr tom- Was to entertain children about the war in an intresting way filled with fun and adventure.
I love you mum i promise i wont die - was to spread awareness about drug misuse and peer pressure in young teens.
London Road- was based on a real life story about the suffolk strangler and was brought to light with real emotions and reactions.
Black watch- was based on war in scotland 

 How do these productions differ and why?
They all differ because they all want to spread a strong message whether that be drug misuse or war, also because they are representatives of different styles of different practitioners.

We first studied naturalism looking at the ideas of Stanislavsky and his thought process and methodology of performing in the naturalistic style.
As a class we looked at Goodnight Mr Tom and put on a mini performance focusing on portraying a naturalistic role including accents and gestures the characters may have used and we had to make sure we didn’t break the fourth wall otherwise the performance wouldn’t be naturalistic.

We then moved on to study Physical Theatre we went on a trip to watch The unreturning which was in the style of frantic assembly(physical theatre). Influenced by the performance we put on our own performances using techniques such as Chair duets and round by through.

Then we moved on to Verbatim theatre looking at one of my favourite plays by Mark wheeler called I love you mum I promise I won’t die.We also had the luxury of the company performing it in our school this helped us in recreating it because we have seen exactly how the lines needed to be delivered because the story was being told by them.During studying verbatim we learned the skills of dictation and learning how to copy someone’s actions and perfect them to a standard where there should be no difference. In my opinion verbatim is really effective and as an actor it puts on a responsibility where we want to portray a role without insulting or harming any one.

I think each style shares similarities and differences such as they won’t work unless you portray your character correctly some are more interactive than one another.As an actor I think I prefer more interactive styles such as physical theatre because I like interacting with the audience and I feel they enjoy the performance better. During the year one thing I would’ve done differently was work harder on myself because I more out everyone before myself meaning I was a little unprepared I think I need to find that balance and I would also have experimented more.One thing I have learnt in this whole experience was to better myself as an actor and I’ve also learnt how to work as a team and deal with problems and overcome them as a team.
