  • One of the biggest differences between Singapore and Colombia is the style of leadership. In Singapur Educational Minister, schools, teachers, and parents apply transactional leadership in how to manage and controlling the student's educational achievements. It is evident that in Singapore the punishment or negative assumption to do not obtaining higher scores in their final test is a type of punishment. If they do not score and compete to succeed in this task they are not going o be able to enter the best academic schools. In Colombia students do not have that type of pressure, it is possible to relate that the type of leadership in the public school is emotional leadership. Based on that most of them need to be motivated, taken care of, and feel comfortable just to finish their first educational levels. Most of them suffer a type of domestic abuse, verbal abuse, or a type of abuse, or are in poverty conditions in which passing a test is not the most important task to perform. Just finishing High school is a difficult task for most of the young population in Colombia. 


  • There is a big difference in terms of budget between Colombia and Singapore. In Singapore the government investment in terms of budget is high and it is a fundamental issue for having education of high quality, that is why in this place they invest a lot in technology and science which have a positive impact on education. On the contrary, in Colombia, the education budget is not enough. In our context, there are a lot of problems regarding budgeting and it is evident since there are many institutions with poor infrastructure, there are no technological resources, and there are no conditions to offer high-quality education. The institutions need resources to improve their teaching and learning process. Without these kinds of resources, it is not possible to think about better education.

    Innovation is another big difference between Singapore and Colombia. In Singapore, science and technology are fundamental in education. In this country, they take into account these elements for the future generations too. They learn for the future and the positive impact of science and technologies. Is reflected in the quality of education and the progress of the country. The problem in Colombia is that technology and science are not the most relevant. The resources for education in science and technology are not enough. Colombian public institutions need technological resources and science to be implemented and contribute to strengthening the institutions
