"Moon runner"

The book "Moon runner" by Corolyn Marseden was inspiring because even though most sports are potrayed by males, a girl named Mina who was considered a "girlie girl" decided to join track and was one of the fastest. Whats really intersting is how she is able deal with the problems from her old her and she makes the best and still come out victorious.

The women in this video show how back then women using instruments like drums and trumpets that are referred as “masculine” was incoorect and that a women shouldn' t be allowed o play that. However all the women in the video did the opposite, the women are seen having fun using these instruments and playing with the trumpets and making music.

In this short text Oliver button is a sissy" by Tomie dePaola the character is Judged for his actions tha seem to be considered "girly." Oliver does things different than most of the boys, for example he really doesn't like sports, and plays with dolls so the boys call him a siisy and spray paint the walls saying that. Oliver then realizes he found a new hobby, and that is dance he joins and the retaleation continues. He joins a talent show and shows off his dance, although he dosen't win the boys finally. This story shows some type of acceptance of whole oliver is even though he dosen't do things that most boys do.

In this short story "The Challenge" by Gary Soto the main character Jose likes this girl named Estela, he tries many ways to talk to her such as tripping right in front of her, faking cuts and bruises, until finally he decides that he will talk to her about one of her strengths racquet ball. Once Jose speaks to Estela about this ( and lies about alot) he challenges her to a game. When this happens he starts to worry that a girl will beat him in a sport so he ask for help and even ask his dad “Dad, has a girl ever beaten you at anything?” Finally he loses to Estela and dosen't like her anymore. I think this book is interesting in many ways society views women if they do certain things the way Estela does.

In the text "This software analyzes how male and female characters are portrayed in movie scripts" by Smithsonian.com. Explains the inequalities women actors face. For example in the text it explains how women have less speaking roles than men actors. However while it speaks of that negative part, it also speaks of the positive and solutions. Such as how "female characters are more agreeable" This shows me that women should be used more on screen.

In the text "Women prove they are capable of working as porters" by Maev Kennedy. The text “Company agrees with complaints that shoe style is unfair to girls” explains how people are realizing how women/ girls are being targeted with sexist brands. For example the boys shoe name is called “leader” whereas the girls brand is referred to as “dolly babe,” which makes people think of the unfair words used to describe each gender. While both brands are made of the same material, the female version has a pink hearts to classify the shoe. While the male version uses a football. However is this how design are supposed to be off of what society believes is correct. Finally the way the shoe is designed for the boys is very sturdy, comfortable and made for the outdoors, while the girls are the complete opposite.

For example the woman must question herself for everything she does like what if she eats more or less will she be seen differently? Or even if she is considered pretty because of her height.

The overall message the poem is trying to tell you is to stop the gender roles. This poet does this by simply going after the simple things and that is the colors society uses to represent genders. The poet however wonders why not pink and blue together because whhy does a girl have to be pink?
