For example, on the CD there was 'reach' by S club 7 and 'Hit me baby' by Britney Spears. I also had a small grey CD player and karaoke machine which at the time seemed like the coolest thing ever, when now we have any song we want for free on our phones.
I also got most of my early music taste from the Wii game Just Dance. When we watched the 70s/80s shows, we had to watch them at the same time every week because that was the only time they were available. However now, streaming services such as Netflix have completely changed this and I could find those shows I used to watch in a matter of a few minutes.

Technology of media constantly improves in ways we don't expect, however trends in those media do often cycle back. Multi-functional media at the time seemed incredibly new and shocking, and I loved this MP4 for that reason. 
This media also heavily influenced my style. It was pastel pink and had a hello kitty face for the buttons. For example, one of my earliest memories of fashion comes from the DSI game version of Tinker Bell. In the game I had to collect materials to be made into outfits, and I would do this for hours on end. Reflecting back now, I can also see that this game took a feminist stance in that it told the mostly female consumers that they were important, as it was filled with mostly female characters who were in full control of the tasks that they did. They were filled with personality quizzes, advice and the top celebrities at the time. Most of my friends had filled their rooms completely with posters from these magazines. Looking at the stances of this magazine, it could be said that heteronormativity is constantly present in this media specifically with the magazines I read, that were aimed at young girls. Male celebrities were shown to be admired and desired, whilst female celebrities were seen as role models in terms of appearance, personality and relationships. With my age group and general university students, tik tok is an incredibly popular platform. The 'for you page', or the fyp includes videos that over time become tailored towards the types of videos that you like, which means uni students all see very similar videos made by other uni students. Instagram as a platform has changed a lot over time, with additions such as stories, igtv and reels. Instagram has also changed in that there is now a socially acceptable and socially unacceptable way to post. When I first got the app with my first smartphone in year 7, I would post anything I felt like posting, such as the lip balm I was using or funny pictures of my friends. Later, posts became very regulated and everybody would copy each other with what was posted. Now there are less unspoken rules with the social media counter-revolution including the celebration of 'casual posting' that has been brought about by tik tok. Other social medias that I enjoy include snapchat, Pinterest, twitter, WhatsApp and Tumblr.

My mum was very cautious to give me a phone at such a young age, but it meant that I was able to play put with my friends and she would be able to check that I was safe and back home in time for tea every day. Skip forward to today, and I can't go a day without my iPhone: especially the camera. These days, we document everything we do, everywhere we go and everyone we meet.
