I agree with Rob Stewarts’s statement, but I think it’s difficult to be succeed and to people’s mind about the sharks. The reason is that people have the mind of ‘Shark is dangerous’ for thousands of years, might due to their body size or sharp teeth. Shark won't attach human adversely, so we must just look them same as us, look them to be a normal species living on the planet, protecting them together to build a better environment.

The United Nation should first ban the fishing of sharks by restricting the season or different period that people cannot go out to fish the sharks, this can reduce the death of sharks. Furthermore, declaring a restriction about the numbers of sharks that each person or family could caught, all the sharks that had been caught should be register. Plus, government can design and post some poster and ads to change people’s mind about the sharks and reduce this stereotype. As a result, these fishers might stop fishing the sharks and find another way to earn enough revenue for living.

Why are people so attracted by beautiful things? Because of the beauty, colors, size, or other things? These things might be an obsession, but overlooking beauty will lead to a terrible ending. Many students in my school are now so fixated on their physical appearance which negatively affected them at school. Some issues exist, like students' mental health, their unstable control of money and time. As a principle, I felt that sometimes, the pursue of beauty and physical appearance might not only be positive but also brings a lot of negative effects.

This image stick in my mind because I have not ever thought about that much shark fins, which represents there’s a large numbers of sharks been killed. It’s the first time that I have saw these shark fins together, not just looking at the data posted on the internet. Furthermore, I felt that the shark fins industry is pretty large, just acting as a killing industry for killing millions of sharks every years, the ecosystem will finally destroyed by this large industry.

Shocking!!!!! Decimation of shark population!!!

Nowadays, the shark population declined dramatically, only 6 people died from sharks annually, but 1 million sharks were killed by humans, there are 73 million sharks that had their fins cut off and thrown into the sea to die slowly. Sharks are synonymous with "cruel", but there are currently only 30 types of sharks that have aggressive behaviors against humans, and 23 types are only judged as "possible to attack humans." Under this circumstance, there’s an argument presented, about being a shark saver or a supporter of killing sharkers in a shark fin industry.

The Sharkfin industry saved a lot of people’s lives by providing them an opportunity to earn money. Although this industry is an underground market because, in most countries that killing shark is illegal behavior, it gives people a chance to feed themselves. These people might be low-skilled workers, so they can’t earn enough revenue. After having this underground market job, they can do these simple works “killing the sharks “to get absolute money. Most of the people who are agreeing to be the supporters of killing sharkers in a shark fin industry are participating in this industry already, so they don’t want to lose their job. At the beginning of the shark fin, the unprocessed fin sold by fishermen did not account for the high price of all the sharks. However, it was later discovered that although these fins are low in cost, after being processed into shark fins, many fishermen can make a lot of money, which allows them to get jobs and make a lot of money

On the other hand, killing sharks and produce into shark fins are destroying the ecosystem. Sharks are the predators of many animals, and they are at the top of the food chain. When sharks are killed by humans too much, their food such as large fishes, sea turtles, seals, etc. will increase within a certain period, but the number of animals that prey on sharks (killer whales) will also decrease, so the ocean’s The ecology is in a state of imbalance. The shark fins that people desire now have killed too many sharks, but shark fins are more of a symbol of people’s money. So those who call for the protection of sharks are eager to replace shark fins with other artificial shark fins, which also have the same taste as the previous shark fins. Excessive hunting of sharks will destroy the ecological chain, other organisms in the ocean will overproduce, seagrass will be reduced, and finally, a large number of fish will die. The ocean produces 70% of the earth’s oxygen, but over-killing will reduce the earth’s oxygen, and eventually, humans will perish.

For companies that make down jackets, you can still make a lot of benefits, but here, down jackets are no longer in demand. Because of global warming, people don't need down jackets to keep warm, so many companies that made down jackets have go bankrupt. The down jackets they produced before can only be piled up in warehouses, and the cost cannot be recovered. Even though our down jackets have been sold at a 50% discount, only few people buy them. If the world continues to get warmer, your company that produces down jackets can only create short-term benefits, and it will loss off in the long-term. So, for the long-term interests of the down jacket market, you should start to protect the environment.

In the novel, it describes like that “No passenger trains do - only an occasional freight.” Desolate scenes are displayed everywhere, and even cars leading to the outside world rarely stop here. Also, in the novel shows that “Not that there's much to see - simply an aimless congregation of buildings divided in the center by the main-line tracks of the Santa Fe Rail-road.” There is nothing in this town, like a deserted place. After these paragraphs, news of death followed one after another, which deepened the chilling feeling. Now he has become a gentle person, without a trace of wildness, but like a normal person, kissing his mother , had dinner and went to bed. I think it's good because everything seems to be calm and there is a contrasting effect.

All characters are sympathy

Posted by: Crystal

Posted on: May 6, 2022

‘In Cold Blood’ is a non-fiction novel that written by Truman Capote. In this novel, the writer creates sympathy for almost all the characters, and allows the readers to relate the characters. In this novel, Perry and Floyd Wells are two specific characters that been creates sympathy and shows their significant.

Perry is one of the murderers in this incident, he and 🤬 committed the murder together, and they have a certain trust, but their trust is not stable. Capote creates sympathy for Perry by showing the oppression of his environment. Perry repeatedly said:’ I never thought I could do it’, he said this because it was Perry's first murder. He always had scruples in his heart, some fear, and some regret. Unlike 🤬, he can be so natural and calm. The environment Perry been let audience feel sympathetic. For starters, it’s very dangerous. Perry and 🤬 just killed the clutters. They could go back to prison again and be arrested at any time. Plus, in such a dangerous environment, Perry still has a crisis of trust with 🤬. Because Perry repeatedly stressed that what he did was crazy and regretted, 🤬 began to doubt that Perry was not a cruel person, and it might be dangerous to act with him. Perry's relationship with 🤬 is based on '🤬'. Perry won 🤬's trust because he told 🤬 about killing blacks. Now Perry has been suspected by 🤬, and the situation has become even worse. Readers can relate with Perry here and deeply feel the difficulty of Perry as a murder. Perry is a significant character in this novel because he is a special murder. He is not as cold-blooded as other killers. All he thinks about is killing and robbing. He also knows music and loves his family. It is precisely because of his particularity that creates sympathy for Perry.

Floyd Wells is 🤬's cellmate in prison and the one who tells 🤬 all kinds of details about the clutter family. Capote described the information Floyd wells revealed to 🤬 in prison, shows that he is highly suspected of committing a crime or helping to commit a crime, which creates sympathy for him. He was originally an ordinary prisoner. He just chatted about the clutter family in prison, but he made a big mistake, which made the clutter family killed miserably and was likely to be charged with a crime. Readers can relate this character because Floyd wells is also unintentional. In the article, "I don't exactly recall how Mr. clutch first got mentioned" shows that he really said it casually and has no special memory, so create sympathy for him. Floyd Wells is a significant character because he pushed this murder forward. Without Floyd wells, 🤬 and Perry might also do crime and murder, but the victim might not be Clutter’s family.

Truman Capote creates sympathy for Perry and Floyd Wells, made this novel became more marvelous, and readers can relate with these characters, feeling them directly and real.

1. Police searched the places Perry and 🤬 had visited to find some evidence, and investigating the case. The places include the small hotel, Perry's house, where they work (Car repair), the place they wrote dud cheque. These place have some witness that know somethings that Perry and 🤬 did, might support some evidence for the police.

2. The police don’t want 🤬’s parents to be very anxious, because they are old in age. Plus, the police just mention that 🤬 wrote dud cheque and violated the parole stipulated, that can put them off guard, told the police some right evidence about the place 🤬 have been.

3. When Perry and 🤬 are hitch hiking, they plan to kill Mr. Bell and rob his money and car. However, when they were ready to do that, there’s one Negro soldier also came for a ride. This makes Perry and 🤬 unable to kill them.

4. Nye was tracking Perry and 🤬 in Los Angeles. Because Perry often lives here, the shopkeeper should be familiar with him, which will be more helpful to find them. At the hotel, the female homeowner also provided some time and Perry's personal belongings there, which allowed the police to infer the time when Perry and 🤬 fled. Capote’s purpose is to describe the whole process of discovering Perry and 🤬. This is one of the places to find their evidence.

5. Barbara might not be a credible source. When Perry was young, Barbara regarded him as a doll and had a good relationship with him. But after moving to San Francisco, their relationship became bad, only saw some photos of Perry.

6. The Corner is a small room in the prison where the gallows are placed. Perry referenced that because if he and 🤬 been caught, they might be locked in this room and be sentenced to death by using hanging.

7. Because even if there is some evidence, the evidence is not perfect enough to prove that Perry and 🤬 are the people who killed the clutter family. Moreover, the way of tying knots during kidnapping is also different. Furthermore, Dewey is to keep the facts of the case confidential. The press cannot publish the significant progress of these evidences. If Perry and 🤬 find them, Dewey will find them even harder.

b.

now:

1. In most states, gun owners must obtain a gun license to carry one and register with the police or other law enforcement agencies.

2. In some selected states, In Alabama, one can own a firearm without a background check, registering, or having a license, however, one requires a permit to openly carry a secured handgun in public.

3. Extreme risk protection order laws, sometimes known as “red-flag” laws, allow family members or police officers to petition state courts to order the temporary removal of a firearm from a person who may pose a danger to themself or others. Requests for extreme risk protection order often come from relatives or friends concerned about a loved one who owns a gun and has expressed suicidal thoughts or discussed shooting people.

4. Ghost guns are increasingly accessible as 3D-printing technology becomes cheaper and more accessible. On July 30, 2018, a federal judge temporarily blocked the release of controversial blueprints for 3D-printed guns, but issues related to ghost guns continue to wend their way through the courts.

Old:

1. In response to these factors, the Gun Control Act of 1968 established the first federal age limits for buying guns from licensed dealers: 18 for long guns and 21 for handguns.

2. 1968, the first year the federal government set age limits for gun purchases. It’s not clear whether states had formal age restrictions for guns, but gun access in some states may have followed the “age of majority,” i.e. the age at which you were considered a legal adult.

Part 3 Questions:
1. 🤬 is worried about Perry, because maybe he will really think that there is such an eyewitness. Perry should not remember even the outline of the Fun Haven alibi he told him many times. Floyd lives in the same cell as 🤬. In the last few weeks of his sentence, 🤬 told him all his plans, and Floyd was the only one who could think about Clutter and 🤬. 🤬 will worry about Perry succeeding to the police interception because Perry committed the crime with his accomplice and there is evidence. Unlike Floyd, gossip between prisoners is not evidence. If Perry snitches, they all have to go to 'the corner. This suggests 🤬 fears Perry would succumb to the police interrogation.

2. At 3:05 p.m. that day, Perry admitted that he made up the story of looking for his sister and told the police some incomplete details. He told the police this because the police said there was an eyewitness. He became a little scared, but he didn't dare to tell him the whole process of murder.

3. 🤬 tried to 🤬 Nancy, but Perry stopped him because Perry hated people who couldn't control their sexuality. Because it was not the time to fight at that time, they didn't seal Nancy's mouth, so they turned off the lights in the corridor and went to the basement.

4. At first, clutter was scared, but he was calm because Perry and 🤬 just wanted money. Then he collapsed and begged 🤬 not to wake Bonnie because she was ill. When Bonnie was woken up, she began to cry and asked not to hurt their child. The boy was awake and lay in bed scared. Nancy woke up from the bedroom dressed up, forced to smile, and tried to be relaxed and friendly.

5. Reporters came to interview gas station employees because 🤬 and Perry had been there. The reporters also interviewed the people on the scene, including many Nancy and Kenyon's classmates. Professional observers are recording the scene themselves. The highway patrol reserved enough space for them to walk up the steps to the prison.

Part 4 Questions:
1. Their living environment is not very good. The interior furnishings are all pieced together by the old furniture store. There are soft chairs, bulging cushions and milky silk curtains

2. Mrs. Meier made a lot of food for Perry, including hot soup, sandwiches, coffee and apple pie, but Perry didn't eat it, so she made him vegetable soup herself. Mrs. Meier chats with him and prepares to cook Spanish Rice for him the next day.

3. He loves small animals and is very clean. There is an elm tree outside the window of the female prisoner, on which some squirrels live. Perry fed them leftovers every day and taught them to play with paper balls, bow and jump on Perry's shoulder. Perry cleans his nails, shave, and bathes many times a day. The items in the cell are also cleaned up, and the bed is particularly flat.

4. Perry wants to modify 🤬's confession that Perry killed all four people, but it's not. He swore that 🤬 killed Nancy and her mother. Because he didn't do this, he didn't want to take the blame for 🤬 himself
