The crumpled newspaper put inside acts as another form of shock absorber as it doesn't send as much shock back to the egg, it lessens the impact by sending more shock against the impacted surface in the form of bouncing rather than towards the egg. The parachute slows down the speed in which the egg falls so there won't be that much impact against the egg. We also cut a hole at the top of the parachute to let air flow through, so the container won't sway during the fall and land sideways.

The air particles will not carry the vibration as much as solid particles, hence, lesser impact on the egg. Answer 2: I would give it a 5 as I really enjoyed all the team work among my team and I and also the helpers there are friendly. We also minimized the use of straws because we need it for the potato and everybody is using the straw method so we decided to be different

The straws allows the energy to be evenly spreaded out,allowing the egg to absorb a lesser amount of impact. The plastic bag acts as a parachute which provides air resistance , making the egg drop slower.
Answer 2: 3, because no scissors provided and they made us wait for the scissors but it did not come in the end so no scissors for us :( the straws given at first were lesser compared to other groups plus our potato was stubborn :( but overall teamwork was required and we achieved what we wanted: we had fun. We use the design of the bed(straws as skeleton, and newspapers as mattress). We also use newspaper instead of the plastic bag as parachute due to one of the concept of PHYSICS. As a parachute, it isn't the weight of the material but rather cause of the surface area of the item used, that's above the egg and normal to the weight(egg & bed), and experiencing the counterforce of the fall(air resistance).

At a higher height, potential energy will be larger. When egg is dropped, potential energy converts to kinetic energy. Higher kinetic energy, larger result of impulsive force. If the kinetic energy is larger than the binding force of molecules of the egg shell, egg shell will crack. We added a thicker volume of newspaper at the bottom of the egg so that the impulsive will be used up to crumple the newspaper instead of breaking the egg shell. So the impulsive force acted on the egg is lesser than the binding force of molecules which will keeps the egg intact. Straws covering the egg was also meant to decrease the impulsive force that acts on the egg. The plastic is used as a parachute to increase the time interval of the egg from reaching the ground, which will reduce the velocity of the egg and decrease kinetic energy. 
Question 2: 1-5, i would rate it 3. Because the materials provided was not like as mentioned in the pamphlet.
