I was particularly surprised that the result of the research shows that the percentage of teachers who participated is higher among those who already use ICT more in both private and professional life. It surprises me because I find the same situation in my school.

I am really surprised by the low percentage of sample teachers who did the test, but this testify how teachers are afraid o being judged in any way. I have taught in secondary high school for 11 years and I have met several colleagues, especially “traditionalist” ones, who don’t believe in the opportunities offered by new technologies. So TET SAT should be a compulsory practice to suggest teachers what training course is more fit for them

I think in the TET-SAT miss data about the "kind" of teachers who have completed the test: which type of school, the age of students, what kind of technology they can use in the classroom ...
Personal reflections:
1. The first obstacle in the use of ICT is in the teachers the fear of losing control of the classroom. It happened with electronic register: many teachers have gone mad at the idea of not being able to put votes like 8- - -, today they can not live without it.
2. The second obstacle is the lack of adequate digital equipment always available in the classroom... I know what I'm saying... sigh!
3. Using ICT means working more...and here I stop with the judgment.

I'm not surprised about the results, but the selected groups were, as Giovanni Abbiati points out, ICT enthusiasts. I wonder what would the results be in my school... We have started three school years ago to work on promoting ICT enhanced learning, thanks to the national plan for digital schools (PNSD). Well, it's still a long way to go, even if some results can be appraised. I do hope TET-SAT will help in this direction.

As other colleagues have already said (Paola and Flavia, for instance, and myself in another post), there are two results that surprised me:
1. The teachers who took the test were skilled in ICT pedagogical use and willing to participate in the experiment (it means that the results depend a lot from this attitude)
2. The videos, brochures and articles that we have read did not detail which kind of teachers and schools (grades, teacher's age, schools) participate in the test (we all know that context is crucial for such kind of tests).

I am not very murch surprised with the results, the more teachers competent in ICT, the more they appriciate the importance of TET-ST. what surprised me was something out of case, that is teachers with just 12 hours worklooad per week, that is unbelievable for me because in my country there are teachers even 10 hours in a single day!

A proof is that in my school I saw elderly collegues who couldn't use a simple copier.

I can understand and explain the results of this survey considering that it involves countries with different backgrounds and policies. Considering the situation in Italy , because of the recent transformation in the Education field, there is a general dissatisfaction because the average teacher thinks to be too old to go on learning in order to improve his teaching in a society which is in a continuous transformation. Feedback I was surprised to see that it received from the TET-SAT the same level as the self-assessed level in the Benchmark Survey. I thought the result would be much lower. But if we cross this variable with that of the number of volunteer respondents, I fear that these are the ones that have more ICT skills.

My first reaction is that, especially in Italy, innovation and use of ICT in schools seems a melting pot, and it should be, as it is the result of the mix (the clash :-() of a tendentially conservative system and a hectically developing social evolution ( the digital revolution). Elena Pezzi and other colleagues pointed out the diversity of Italian schools according to geographical area, location, grade, equipment, teachers' age, surrounding area characteristics and even more. What should an effective approach be? Certainly big data help a lot, then I think we should start from the local situation, a glocal approach. Personally, I live and work at Rieti, an area far from the problems of big cities, but also deprived in many ways, one of them being the urge towards innovation in teaching

Personally, I am interested in developing a strategy for using ICT in contexts where they go further than traditional teaching, supporting the 4 Cs and linking subjects rather than separating them. I think we should develop a culture of sharing around this topic, where self-assessment is only a starting point. I don't know whether categorising people by their workload and subject is of much help. It's like comparing apples with pears.

I'm surprised of the high results in TET-SAT, especially in relation to our school poor ICT equipment. Innovation cannot come only from the willingness of a teacher to improve her teaching. In many school in Italy we have very poor connections or lack of digital devices in all classes. This doesn't help to improve ICT competences in teachers. In these school the results would be very poor in comparison with the Survey, but I still think that the introduction of the TET SAT would help to change things and improve ICT competences in teachers and students as well . Our millennial students' digital competence is much lower of what we think it should be.!!

I am not surprised by the results, but they made me reflect on a couple of point: the teachers with a lower work load are more willing to use technology, participate in surveys, experiment, etc: it's obvious. However, I have seen many of my younger colleagues, teachers of Humanistic subjects, to be very keen on technology when machines and connection work properly, otherwise it becomes a real drag.

Tet-Sat is an excellent tool for assessing teacher competences in ICT. It is also important that the feedback can be improved. As I have already said, the problem arises when you find teachers who are opposed to the use of technology or when the educational environment is lacking both of the technologies and of the sense that the same can lead to teaching.

I totally agree with what Teresa wrote. But , please make a distinguo when talking about teachers linked to humanistic subjects for teachers teaching foreign languages, in particular English...are always promoters and precursors of new tendencies.
We generally take part to international projects(Erasmus + programs, eTwinning projects...etc.) so we must be updated with ICT, for we use them when teaching but also in our common life
What we (I ) lack is the self reflection...we use the tools...without considering other critical aspects

The results did not surprise me and the fact that teachers thought TET-SAT helped them re-think the use of ICT in teaching is an interesting point. While we are trying to catch up with the curriculum, the importance of using ICT in each class may be forgotten. I cannot say that the research results were extremely surprising, but to be honest, the percentage of the teachers that received from TET-SAT a lower level than their own self assessed level was bigger than I expected. The 28% , (almost a third ) seems to me a great number , and is somehow worrying that so many teachers thought they were better. Maybe this will have a positive impact , because they had to reconsider and to be more critical to themselves. I agree with Graziamaria from Italy that says that many teachers do not make efforts to learn ICT tools because they are afraid that they would not be able to handle it, and I must add that not only the aged teachers, but the younger ones too.
Also, it is very true that the material base in schools, meaning computers, networks, internet connection have a huge role in promoting TET-SAT and using of ICT, as our colleague Cinzia Giulia F. from Italy mentioned. How can you develop such competences for yourself and for your students if you don't have the technology and the facilities you need?

The first reaction that I had by reading the results is that they reflect a certain reality about the arguments, so I wasn't so surprised. I foung a certain importanc about the homogeneity of about the whole results. I find absolutely amazinf the big impact of the tool if we considered the great numeber of the participants. I am a headmaster in a secondary school. In my school more than half of the teachers use technology in classrooms in teaching activities but they no idea of MENTEP or similar projects. Stimulating teachers for using ICT tools fruitfully may be a tiring job since-especially in my country- teachers are supposed to follow pre-defined curriculum and exams are vital elements of our education system. To be honest, the results are quite satisfactory.

The use of the TET-SAT tool will have a very positive impact in a classroom, I think the key is the launching process. Teachers need to be given the principles, the time, and the chance for experimentation so they see for themselves how useful the tool can be. This requires lots of conversations and a working environment that is willing to learn as a team and is willing to allow teachers some freedom to meet the institutional goals with the support of methodology and tools that complement the courses they are teaching and their teaching styles/situations.

As I noticed in the previous activity, I am quite surprised with the percentage of teacher using TET-SAT and ICT... I was expecting a more expressing number. Nevertheless, it points out the way to follow: we need to invest in teacher training, in school abilitation with ICT or, at least, in the implementation of a "bring your own device" attitude towards ICT and changing the way we design learning activities.

The results of the research are not surprising. What surprised me was the low level (34%) of teachers usign TET-SAT. Why? What should be done with this group of teachers? If 30% do not have the time to answer a set of online questions, when will they integrate ICT in their teaching? How can the two thirds outside TET-SAT improve? Is the teaching profession in crisis? Or are the schools administrations and Ministries?

We cant take them as a whole because there are different oppurtunities of each, different working hours, different views of technology used in self-assessment and etc. Teachers just have to be aware of the importance of using ICT and should develop their competence.

The results of the research did not amaze me, many teachers have no competence in the use of ICT and / or use it little with their students. I think the results are not surprising. When you turn back to fifteen years of time, using ICT was not the main point in curriculums and new in techniques/methods. So those teachers are continuing teaching (if so) and it's normal for them to have difficulties in integrating. Another point is the lack of assistance that those type of teachers' (if they try to adapt themselves) gathering information and using tet-sat. Related to this, getting feedback which is not enough can be another parameter. I guess a new research should be done after fifteen years time and the results should be compared.

I totally agree with Rosanna G. Please make a distinguo concerning Foreign Language teachers. We have been using ICT since its beginning and we "invented" a pre-historic ICT procedure to fascinate students and involve them (do you rememebr flash-cards, word gamesby drawing dice and many other simple but effective strategies?)
What we need is a tool like TET SAT which enables us to be reflective and to master ICT in order to benefit from it at its best. The results are not surprising because it is well known that ITalian school has not money and it does not invest in technology at school as it should do, so many teachers do not wish to struggle against devices which do not work properly, without ICT technicians who should help the teachers if technical problems occur (internet connection, viruses, etcc...)

I must admit that most of the results did not surprise me at all. They perfectly show the situations of most of the Italian schools I know. I can add that I was disappointed when I realized that teachers teaching a humanities subject had a very low probability of using TET-SAT, as well as men compared to women, young teachers compared to old teachers (if I well remember).
Perhaps the fact that the same situation is generally shared by other countries in Europe really surprised me, as I have always thought that there are better realities and opportunities in other European schools.

Summing up I still believe that this tool can be an excellent stimulus to start/monitor and assess a reflective process of professional improvement.

I think %60 is a high level for getting the same results from self assessment and TET-SAR and it is quite interesting. For my results, they are higher than I expected. In my country we have a national project caller FATİH, which aims smart boarda for each class and tablets foreç each students. That is pretty cool. My first reactions to the results of the research weren't at all of surprise. I actually agreed with the results on the basis of my 21 years of experience in the Italian school system and of 2 of those 21 years as a "digital animator" in my school.
I was surprised though that there was no difference in the age groups on the use of ICT in the classroom. I really did expect younger teachers to be on the frontier line.
I do find though that students themselves even though they are so part of the so called "digital generation" they aren't as informed on the use of ICT in the classroom. Except the use of social media they are quite as uninformed as some of the colleagues who don't use technology.
Overall I believe that the TET-SAT introduced in our schools in the right way can be an excellent tool for getting more teachers on board. I just want to conclude by stating that unfortunately not all schools are connected and those that are, some do not allow students to connect to the WiFi and thus having to pay for the use of ICT in the classroom is a great discouragement for our students and using ICT without the participation of our number one stakeholder seems to defeat the purpose of it all.

Satisfaction: 7.5 out of 10 is considered very high. How come? The participants where volunteers, ICT adopters, teachers that use ICT in their classrooms. If the survey was mandatory and all the teacher had to answer, including those that do not use ICT, than I would agree that 7.5 was in fact very high. With this sample, 9 or even 8.5 (90% or 85%) would be a very high satisfaction. Probability of using TET-SAT: I completely agree that 50% of probability of use TET-SAT by a cohort that favour so much ICT is a small result so something is missing. Teachers’ average TET-SAT score: how come the more enthusiasts, the ones with the highest levels of competence only get Average??

I found some results not surprising at all, but I did not expected that, for example, only 34% used TET-SAT. Moreover, I did not expected that only 28% of teachers had overestimated their own competences (or that only the 8% underestimated them). In my opinion, one of the strenghts of this tool is that it can help us to better understand our gaps, and I'm not so sure that I could be able to make a good self-assessment, because I'm not so sure of knowing very well what "using technology in teaching" means!

The results have never surprised me. Different countries have different opportunities, different working hours, different views of technology used in self-evaluation, and so on. Teachers should be aware of the importance of using ICT only and should improve their ICT skills. In addition to being so fast in technology, education should be utilized too.

The results were expected as I wrote earlier. In fact, most teachers correctly assess their abilities. I am glad that there are also those teachers who received more grades than they expected.

Most of the participants in this course were not surprised by the results, like me. I was pleased to learn that the previous TET SAT experience has brought together teachers with many and a few years of experience. Thanks!

Dopo aver utilizzato il TET-SAT, gli insegnanti tendono ad avere una percezione più critica del loro livello

delle competenze TET. Il senso più "critico" secondo me è un ottimo punto di forza, soprattutto per chi vede nell'età in grado e il livello di competenza o meno.

I am surprised by the difference shown on the willingness of using the TET-SAT tool, according to teacher prifile A and B.
I think that teacher of foreign languages are as likely to use ICT as teachers of scientific subjects (profile A).

The most interesting result for me is 62% of teachers who believe the TET-SAT is useful for rethinking the use of ICT in teaching. This figure is positive, but it makes clear that we need to increase the number of teachers who put in place a serious process of reflection and self-reflection on their results.
