A landowner successfully overturned the right to wild camp on Dartmoor. This could restrict people's right to roam freely and enjoy the land. Goes against the purpose of national parks/public land. This links to environmental and social policy.

I think land is not particularly important to me as we have always rented our houses, so we have been able to make anywhere a home. I feel that modern policy focuses on the housing market with prices being so high so it will take longer than average to pay mortgages.
P.S I am still trying to rejoin the webinar but my WIFI is really playing up :( - Katie

who owns the property? Vandalism within law could be seen as offence under section 1 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971. This is only applicable where the reckless destruction was intentional or damage of property owning to another. A property right under land law must be defined, have permanence and stability and must be transferable to 3rd parties. This assess whether someone has a right over the property Banksy has defaced. Land law also places importance on the private enjoyment of property rights without undue interference. The question of prosecution is determined based on if the land is in the possession of another.

The ban of evictions of tenants during covid

Landlords were unable to evict tenants that couldn't pay. This was beneficial for people who had been made redundant due to covid and could have been made homeless, but this meant that some people refused to pay even though they could. On the other hand, it was damaging for landlords that relied on that money to pay their bills and their mortgage. Which could cause them to lose their home.
