Patience: You must be patient with the people you work with because you work with different age groups depending on what your focus is. 

Critical thinking: you must use logic and reasoning to identify areas of strength and weakness, and think of alternative solutions and approaches to problems you might encounter.

Social perceptiveness: you have to be aware of others’ reactions and work to understand why that reaction occurred.

Observational skills:  developmental psychologists must have excellent observational skills in order to properly evaluate and diagnose patients.
