It was very informative- instead of giving personal stories, it was more the back story behind the science itself and advice to parents on what types of doctors to consult and what tests to get (Calcium level test, for example). Some interesting things I learned included features of the syndrome including prenatal growth delays, 'elfin faces', hypertension, and joint hypermobility. The video focused on the medical side, and it even showed pictures of the pregnancy before the baby is born. There is a link between it to the size of the Aorta, and all motor skills are typically delayed. Interestingly, people with Williams syndrome are very good at memorizing words to meaning, but have trouble applying that meaning to a subject. It has also been noticed that these children love to talk to and meet strangers, which can pose as a danger to them and is something parents have to handle and teach their kids. It affects roughly between 10,000 to 20,000 people in the US- it is very rare. It is the deletion of 26 genes on the 7th chromosome. Interestingly, children with this syndrome can experience hypersensitive hearing. Something that is shocking to me is how many challenges there are that come with having this syndrome. Watching all the videos was a very bittersweet experience- it is beautiful to see such happy, pure people persevering in their lives, but the amount of challenges they face is staggering and devastating. I had never heard about this syndrome before, but I am so glad I chose this one to research. It offered me a new perspective to look at and was a reminder of how many health complications some people have, and to be grateful for good health. 

Something I thought was really interesting was the connection to music and other auditory sounds- their sensitivity to hearing and an unexplainable connection to music. Something else I thought that was interesting was another common pattern between children with Williams syndrome and how they all are drawn to speaking with strangers. I found myself watching a half an hour of different interviews with people with Williams syndrome in addition to the ones I am using for my project- they are all so happy. In this video a young girl answers interview questions, and it is evident she is happy all the time, and has love for everybody. A main thing that has showed up in other videos in addition to this one is that kids with Williams Syndrome struggle with stranger danger, because they love and trust everybody. It definitely touches your heart and informs the viewer while telling a story. For example, she had GI problems, which is common for children with this condition. I think because there are so many other issues to deal with school is very important but not the main thing kids struggle with.
