Steel Plow 1825

Jethro Woods created the iron plow. However, John Deere improved the iron plow by making it a steel plow more durable. A horse would be able to pull the steel more quickly than an ox.

Spinning Jenny 1764

James Hargreave created the spinning Jenny. The spinning Jenny was a spinning wheel that could spin many threads at once. James Hargreave made it better because before that it was only able to spin one thread at a time.

The mechanical reaper 1847

Cyrus McCormick had built the mechanical reaper. The reaper was a horse-drawn machine that cut and gathered other grains. Not just that but later on there was more machines built like the reaper it was a mechanical drill to plant grain.

The first American mill 1793

Samuel Slater built the first American mill. When he first built it there was constant brake downs. But then he started to fix it and he made it successful but making the first American mill powered by water.

Labor Force 1768

Labor force was a big thing back then the kids and woman were forced to work. They used to make the kids squeeze their tiny hands into machines to try and get them to work again because the adults hands were to big to fit into them.

Urbanization 1800-1850

Urbanization is a process was the process from farm land to cities. When they were first building the cities there had been numerous problems many resulted human modification. Not just that but during the gradual process there was a spread of diseases cholera that had killed thousands of people.

Interchangeable parts 1798

Whitney had wanted to speed up the process of making the guns by having machines manufactured each part. By making interchangeable parts it would save time and money because they made the parts identical and they would all fit together so they wouldn't keep on having to make new guns every time.

Waterpower loom 1780

The water power loom was invented by Cartwright in 1780. The water power loom speed up the processes of weaving. After they made it they were able to make clothes and shoes faster then before.

Erie canal 1817

The Erie canal was an amazing invention because by making it they were able to ship more items faster. They would take the boats and ship everything by the boat it took less time then having to go by wagon. It also had created more trade routes with the Atlantic coast and the Great lakes.

Trains 1804

During the industrial revolution trains were used to transport goods such as iron coal, and raw materials used in industrial production. They would ship products from New York to buffalo or other places and it was a quick and easy method to use to transport goods.
