The ability to choose gives you power because you are able to choose which kind of person you are and the ability to decide if you want to do something that affects you in either way. To live was to have choice. The power to choose was real power, not fake power of making  others afraid. The power to choose was the real power because to choose you can make your own decisions. You can choose to go the wrong way or the right way because only you can make the choice.making others afraid was not real power because if you make people afraid of you. You still are not controlling them their just going to be afraid and not your real friend. But if you make the choice of being their real friend. Having the ability to choose gives you power because without the ability to choose others would have to choose for you and you would not get the chance to pick the choice that you think is right. Choices also make life like you would have to make a choice of what job you want to choose and what food you want to eat. There are always daily  choices like what outfit you want to were for the day or what hairstyle looks best on you. Having the ability to choose gives you power to choose for your self and choose the right choices. The power goes away by not choosing what's best. Not choosing what's best is like choosing the wrong answer on a test you might think it is right but really it's not so you have to choose what you want for yourself. An example is in "Touching Spirit Bear" were Cole had to pick the choices that he made and he had the power to choose the choice. One of the choices he decided to make was beating up Peter D.     The ability to choose has the power that we call life. If you didn't have the power to choose you wouldn't have the life you have today. Even if you do or don't like your life...you would hate it even more. To choose gives us power to do things we like or love, hate or dislike. The point to live is for us to choose how we want to live. Without choice you would be doing the same thing over and over like everyone else. Choice is important because you can do the things you love and do everyday of your life. Step by step. Day by day. You make choices everyday even if you think you don't.You make choices like, what am I going to eat today? What am I going to do when I get home? What will I do in the next 24 hours? See... you make choices every single day. Sometimes you don't even know you do until afterwards. That's the power of choice that gives us freedom and life. You could mess up your life or you could make it better. That's what choice is. Choice is not given to you on purpose, it's given to you because you have either earned it or your trusted with it. Like in chapter 7, Cole wants the Spirt Bear to be afraid of him but instead the Spirt Bear isn't. Instead Cole ends up with many seagulls surrounding his wounds. That was Coles choice. He could have let the Spirit Bear go it's own way and Cole wouldn't have got hurt, but Cole went with the other side of him. Imagine if Cole and never beaten up Peter!!! He wouldn't be on this island hurt with the Spirit Bear, none of thatwould  of ever happened if he made the other choice. To loose your power of choice you would have to do something that no one would ever trust you again. Of course Peter is never going to trust Cole again because of what he did but that doesn't mean Cole lost his power or choice. Cole made another choice when he chose it go to Circle Justice. He made the choice to go to the island. He made the choice to burn the shelter, try and escape, try to kill the Spirit Bear. Those are all choices! Even when he ate all the nasty things to live! At first Cole stated, why didn't the Spirit Bear finish him off. He didnt care if he died, no one did, but when Cole saw the baby Sparrows on the ground waiting for food he chose to live not die. That was one of his biggest choices! Instead of wanting to die he still had the choice to live. Power is not giving to you I have to earn your power of your actions and if you use you power for good. Now fake power is power that is not real. You think you have the power. Like in chapter one he beated up Peter Driscol. He did this because he wanted people to be afraid of him. Having the power to choose a choice or privilege is a big thing that we need to all use right or it won't be right. The ability to choose gives us power to make our own decisions. Whether it is good or bad, it gives us the freedom to make our own choices. We can lose this power by making bad decisions that we may or may not regret. For example, Cole, in the book, "Touching Spirit Bear",  makes a terrible decision by beating up another kid named Peter Driscle.
