My Response

Like and Dislikes- After reading the book, I discovered that I have a neutral opinion on the book. In my opinion, the author did a very good job by not giving any hints on who the culprit was. When the culprit was revealed at the end of the book, I was completely surprised. However, I feel that the author gave too much unnecessary information. An example of this would be how the author includes Ingrid's school, personal life, and personal relationships. This can distract a reader and fail to see what's the imformation is important to the mystery.
Main Characters:
Ingrid Levin-Hill, Vincent Dunn, Chief Strade
Minor:Joey Strade, Ingrid's Family
Setting:Echo Falls
Main Conflict: Who murdered "Crack-Up Kate?"
The most interesting part of the book for me was the end. The reason being is because I would not have been able guess who the culprit was. Another interesting part of the book for me would be the interaction between Ingrid and her grandfather because he taught he valuable life lesson that was able to apply during the story. In addition, I like how the setting of the story was able to connect with the story. It gave Ingrid the background knowledge she need to solve the mystery.
Connections:
A connection that I can make would how Ingrid personal problems were able to infer with her trying to solve the mystery. I was able to connect to this because somethimes I feel as if I am dealing with multiple things at once like Ingrid. Another connection that I can make is based on the relationship between Ingrid and her grandfather. I can relate to this because I have someone that I can go to for good advice as well. Something that I can't really relate to would be Ingrid likes and dislikes. I can't relate to this because Ingrid likes soccer and dislikes math. For me, it would be vise-verse.

"A big thought, probably the biggest of her life: She was going to have to solve this case-the murder of Cracked-Up Katie- herself ." pg 214
I like this quote because I admire how Ingrid wanted solve the murder mystery on her own. I know that most teenagers wouldn't care enough take interest in any case unless it concerns them. Even if some of them were interested in this, they might have been too scared to get involved.
"The backups to my backup systems have backup" he said. "It's gone." This quote is important to solving the murder mystery. When Ingrid goes to rent out a movie with a person relating to life of the victim, the guy at the store tells her the movie is no longer there. While reading the book, I begun to wonder if someone had purposely taken the movie so no one would be able to figure out who did the crime.
"And always questions: If Philip Prescott, already a murderer once , had indeed returned and killed Katie, where was he?" pg. 382
I like this quote because it made me get engaged in the story. This quote made me think about the information that was giving in the book to Ingrid and whether or not it was accurate.

"Just around the Riverbend" by Judy Kuhn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZrg3hhntQY
The reason why I choose this song is because it relates to the personality of the main character Ingrid. Based of the book, I can conclude that Ingrid is very curious. I came to this conclusion based on the fact that Ingrid involved herself into something that didn't concern her. This song was used in the Disney movie Pocahontas. Pocahontas proves to be just as curious as Ingrid as she begun to explore and notice the different thing around her.

Recommendation:

After reading this book, I would recommend the book to only certain people. If a person is patient enough for the climax and appreciates a good mystery, I would definitely recommend this book. It has great plot that can be understood if a person can follow along with the story. Also, the story makes the reader think about the information that is provided. This is a good thing for readers who enjoy using critical thinking. If the reader is observant enough, they might be able to make connections between the murder and the play.

For reader that enjoy a more fast past story with action in every chapter, I wouldn't recommend this book. At times, the book can get dull and uninteresting. The reason for this is because I believe that the story given too much information Ingrid's school and personal life. The story can distract the reader from fully enjoying the book. In the end, full enjoyment of this book would depend on what type of genre you like.

The second and the third covers of this book are trying to show the reader the connection between the play that Ingrid is in, which is Alice in Wonderland, with the murder mystery.(Note: Any further explanation may give away the ending.) The first cover indicates that the book is a murder mystery. It does this with the tracing which is used when a murder happens.
