Plot Summary

Set in Detroit in the year 2035, a young robotics scientist named Liam Pierce dreams of creating a robot that could hold the spirit of God. After opening his own robotics lab, he is joined by a recent high school graduate Anthony James. The two of them work hard to create a body for God, with many failures leading to the postponing of the project. Liam leaves early one day to go home to his pregnant girlfriend and trusts Anthony with watching over the lab for the day. Anthony wakes up hours later from a nap, realizing he's been at the lab until 11:00pm. He goes to leave, but notices something off about the robot prototype (appropriately named G.O.D). It's turned on, even though it doesn't have a power source connected. The eyes move to look at Anthony, staring directly into his eyes. G.O.D briefly speaks from a non-existent voice box and not a moment later before it has breached the roof of the lab, destroying the ceiling and sending pieces of it crashing down. Anthony quickly escapes and runs to his car, hurriedly calling Liam. Anthony tells him G.O.D escaped and is headed downtown. Confused and a little worried, Liam looks outside and sees a small figure shooting through the sky, headed for the city. Panicking, he gets in his car and drives to catch up with the robot, terrified at what it might do. G.O.D arrives in downtown Detroit and begins tearing everyone he sees to shreds. Ripping out throats and spines, putting holes in skulls, it shows no mercy. Liam quickly follows suit of the robot and unloads whole magazines from AR-15 rifles into the thing. It absorbs all the hits no problem and fires back with a wave of Inferi (dead re-animated corpses). The dead bodies surround Liam and he is unable to stop one from biting him. He falls down, sure of his death. He hears the blast of a shotgun round and sees G.O.D crumble to the ground, missing his knees. Anthony appears behind him, holding a 12 gauge and stumbling towards Liam. He tells him how the bolts at the knees and elbows are loose, making it possible to shoot them out. Suddenly, the robot emits a glow from its abdomen, the self-destruct sequence. The boys try to run but can't with their injuries, unable to flee from the blast radius. The last thing they see is a bright light, then nothing...

Characters

Liam Pierce: Main character and protagonist in the story. Tall, fit, recently graduated from MIT and has a love for robotics. He is about 24 and lives in Detroit with his girlfriend. He has auburn brown hair, silver eyes, almost no facial hair and smooth skin.

Anthony James: Secondary character, fellow scientist to Liam and fresh out of high school. He is averagely built but on the shorter side, with glasses and long, silky blonde hair. At 19, he doesn't have much experience, but has a passion for robotics just like Liam, which landed him the job.

Melanie Lynn: Liam's girlfriend of 4 years, currently pregnant with a baby girl. Ex-military and on maternity leave for her unborn daughter. 29 years old, about 5'9 and very attractive (at least to Liam). Loves to work, but also enjoys relaxing on the couch watching soap operas. Absolutely crazy in love with Liam (as he is too) and super loving.

G.O.D: Sentient robot built to host the spirit of God and spread his word. It is the height of an average male, weighing about the same. Its body is made of super strong metals and has a supercomputer brain, along with a device that allows spirits to enter and host the body. When the wrong spirit finds it way into it, it reeks havoc and terror across Detroit.

At Doom's Gate is the main theme for the popular video game Doom. It features heavy metal guitar riffs, fast drums and a thick bass sound. This fast paced metal track is my pick for the scene when G.O.D enters Detroit to kill all in its way. It adds to the intensity of the carnage and the terror.

Eye Of The Tiger is an 1980's classic rock used in many famous movies, including Rocky. This song would fit well with my montage scene of Liam and Anthony building the prototype robot, as many montage scenes use it as well.

Liam's costumes

Scene 1: Opening the lab

-Liam is wearing a basic white scientist outfit, along with safety goggles and rubber gloves. Not much makeup is used, other than some foundation and bronzer to make the skin glow in the fluorescent lights.

Scene 2: Back at home

-Liam takes off his work clothes and changes into sweatpants and a plain grey t-shirt. All makeup is removed to give him the natural look of a tired man. His hair is shaggy and undone, fake sweat on the arms and body to show the work he's done.

Scene 4: Downtown

-Liam starts off the scene in pyjamas, but changes into a hoodie and a pair of blue jeans when he goes downtown to fight G.O.D. As it is dark outside, no makeup is needed other than basic foundation and blush to brighten up the face. Hair remains the same throughout the scene, shaggy and messy.

Anthony's costumes

Scene 1: Opening the lab

-Anthony is wearing almost the exact same costume with the same makeup needed for Liam, except for small details, like the ear piercings, the bun he made for his long hair and the slightly open collar in his shirt.

Scene 3: Awakening

-Anthony wakes up in the clothes he came in with, with a few alterations, like the lack of bun in hair and darkened eyelids created with smudged eyeliner. His shirt is creased from sleeping and his hair is greasy.

Scene 4: Downtown

-Anthony is wearing the same costume from scene 3 and no changes are made.

Color Palette and Grading

(I'm not good with colors, can't tell what kind of colors fit certain atmospheres, I apologise for the lack of explanation)

I think the overall mood is grim and dark, so I'm thinking the main colors should be dark red (blood red during the awakening scene), black for the background in the city and fluorescent white lights for the street lights, yellow walls in Liam's home with brown furniture and finally, the lab would be white with grey to match the tools and equipment.

Main setting

This film takes place in Detroit, Michigan. The time of day is mainly night, only day for the beginning of the story. The story moves from downtown to a rural/suburb area for the home. The lab is on the outskirts of the city, needing a long drive to reach.

For the lab scenes, the lab is a standard sized lab, equipped with standard issue microscopes, complex machinery and obviously a robot prototype machine.

It is about the size of an average home, only one floor with a reception desk (currently empty) and two offices for the two scientists.

The home is an average suburban home, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 3 floors (including basement) and an actual chimney. Large kitchen and spacious basement den with access to the attic in the second bedroom.
