Personal Stress and Anxiety Test

In my first quiz, my results came back as moderate indication of high stress. The questionnaire I took was from Psycom.net, and they explained my stress levels as “ a moderate indication that I have symptoms of high stress.” I believe that these results are accurate because when I feel overwhelmed in school, work, or event gatherings, those events make me feel anxious or stressed. In another questionnaire I took, it was the Anxiety Test from the same website; Psycom.net. This test asked me questions about how I am when I feel overwhelmed, how I act in event gatherings, and how I handle situations when I feel anxious. In this test my results came back as moderate indication of an anxiety disorder. This can be pretty scary to think about, but the test explained that my answers showed that I have some symptoms of this. Psycom.net also explains, “this quiz is no substitute for a proper diagnosis from a health care professional and we would encourage you to schedule an appointment with your doctor or other mental health professional” (Psycom.net).

What Does Stress Look Like?

Stress can be defined as your body's way of responding to a threat or demand. For me, I typically deal and or experience stress when it comes to school, work, and even financially. Some ways I handle stressful situations or if I feel overwhelmed, I will take a break from the moment I am experiencing that stress and take time to recuperate. When it comes to school, I will step away from the assignment, or study and go for a drive and listen to music to try and relax. When it comes to work, I experience many interactions with people who react to situations differently. So, if I have to deal with someone who makes my job harder, I will take a fifteen minute break to recuperate and settle my mindset of the stressor. When it comes to financial problems, I only work for so long even though I ask for more hours. This causes me to have stress over money, because I have a lot of responsibilities, like gas for my car, maintenance for my car, food, and other daily needs.
Smith, M., Segal, J., Segal, R., & Robinson, L.

There are many ways stress can be handled with. Most people, including myself, manage their stress in different ways, for what works for them. Some ways to manage stress can be eating well, exercise, being around supportive people, meditation, sleep, even getting connected with a councilor or therapist (Malaika Stoll).
Stoll, M.

There are two different types of stress, Emotion-focused and problem-focused; which are ways of dealing and analyzing stress. Emotion-focused requires something, also including exercise and therapy, which can distract a person from their distress. Changing stress, including leaving a job or having a break from school, is problem-focused. The person needs to resolve the cause of stress by adjusting it in a manner that will help reduce stress (Sarafino, & Smith, 2017).

Whenever I am faced with a stressful situation, I always look towards God for help and peace. I have always gone to God with my worries and pain, so I feel better with my problems. Most of the time when I feel stressed, I am looking into my past. What I have realized is that the devil asks me about my past because he doesn't want me to see what God has in my future. Churches, your family or other families who worship and pray, are all great places and sources to find help spiritually.
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
