The Native American stories always gave lessons and you always learned about something. Also, having animals being the main characters of their stories. The traditions are very different between the cultures. They also believed that they live in a circular world.

2) Read "The Sky Tree" on p. 24. What values can we assume some Native Americans had based on this myth?
They value their relationships with their animals and that they are so involved within these stories. 


3) Read "Coyote Finishes His Work" on p. 25. Based on our knowledge of Puritans, would the Native American tribes who told this story agree or disagree with the Puritans? Why?
Disagree, because the Native Americans didn't have the same beliefs as the Puritans. The Natives believed in their land and animals. The Puritans believed in God and had many different religious beliefs.

Even though she was a Puritan, she always found time to write her poems. Her brother-in-law published her poems in 1650 without Anne's permission.
The religion of the Puritans was very strict. When Anne starting writing poems, nobody of her religion would support her and it was very uncommon for her to do that. The strict rules of the religion didn't scare her and she continued to write, even though it was most likely the "wrong thing". "Anne expected and she felt encouraged to write for the rest of her life." People would've assumed that she wasn't an educated woman. She would've impressed many people with her writing abilities. It could possibly giver her more confidence to write because people would have been praising her.

Both the poem and the video are focusing on the same thing. They are both comparing the Transatlantic Slave Trades and the troubles that everyone went through. What is the benefit of viewing each type of information?
Showing different point of views and also the video goes more in depth with what actually happened and the poem showed more feelings about the Trades.

Grim naturalism was so much more deeper and real. Earlier periods, such as Romanticism, was full of expectations and all of the bad that happened was not talked about or shown. Romance was so much more happier and softer than grim naturalism. Grim naturalism is dark and sad.

Why do you think Sinclair chose to write about this very real problem in the form of a fictional novel?
To warn people so that they can stop what they are doing before they get in real trouble. He usually wrote about how to appreciate the world around them and the beauty around them within nature and the small things. His writing style is different because of how simple and small it is. The other poems we have read are very long and usually sad. Williams poems are happy and simple.

I agree with his simplicity because it is very eye opening and inspirational. It showed how much stress and sadness the children were undergoing. They all looked sad and hopeless in the pictures which gave people sympathy. They were also getting little to no pay at all. The children were experiencing injuries and terrible work conditions. It was a wide-spread problem. 

What are the ethical problems associated with employing children under the age of 16?
They don't understand what they are doing or what is even going on. The littler ones are more prone to injury and using bad substances or getting sick. The children also didn't know what was going on with money. They also do not understand health and breaks.

I think that smart speakers are creepy. We don't have one at home, but I still think they are creepy. The fact that they can talk back to you and answer human questions as a robot, doesn't sit right with me. You never know if the robot is recording your conversations or anything of that sort. 

What do you think E.M. Forester would think about that technology? Why?
I think he would've also been creeped out about it because it makes humans dependent on technology/robots.

A self-driving car makes decisions and would not react the same way a human could. A human thinks of all the bad things that could happen, but the self-driving car does not, it just makes impulsive choices. 

In your opinion, what type of "code" should self-driving cars have? (prioritize the driver's life, minimize damage, minimize harm to other drivers, etc.) Why?
I think that self-driving cars should be more cautious. Other cars and drivers have a life too that should also be worried about. If you really don't want to drive your car, you should still be alert and cautious about other drivers and monitoring the decisions that the car makes.

Yes this is progress because there are more pros than cons. There are robots working, so they won't get tired and don't have to be paid. Another pro is that it is inside and the produce grows efficiently and takes up less land area. I think that this technology is advancing and it will improve the farming and produce in America. 

What implications does this new technology have for farmers? Are the effects positive, negative, or both?
This could be negative because farmers are losing jobs, but they could also learn new technology. They could help in these factories and keep learning and exploring these technological advances.

How does the article you chose relate to the story "The Wretched and the Beautiful"?  It relates because the aliens that are ugly in the story are treated badly and unfairly, but when the beautiful aliens show up, they are treated perfectly and given special treatment. The ugly animals get treated unfairly, and the cute ones get treated better.  
  2. What findings discussed in the article are similar to what is discussed in the story? Cite a piece of evidence from the article to support your answer. "For example, people might give elevated moral status to attractive animals, not because of their beauty, per se, but because they are perceived as more intelligent or capable of experiencing happiness. And we might tend to care less about harming ugly animals because they are viewed as dangerous, not because they are ugly." This quote explains that how an animal looks is going to effect how humans treat them. This relates to the story because the humans felt threatened by the ugly aliens, so they got treated very differently. 
  3. In your own experience, are the article's findings accurate? Have you ever experienced or witnessed what the article discusses? I think that the article is very accurate because I even treat animals that look different unfair. The "beautiful animals" always make me feel more comfortable. I have experienced this first hand. At Bomgaars, people bring dogs in and some are either sick or ugly-looking and my reactions are always different. I think that it is unfair, but that is how its going to always be.

No because I love my phone and I could never live without it. I would need my phone for many different things. I could maybe be there for like a couple days, but not longer than that. 

Do you think it's ethical for parents of children in that area to force them to live there?
No because they won't survive in the real world. They won't be able to make new friends online. The kids would not be able to communicate with anyone and they would not understand anything after being a teenager.   

What benefits and/or detriments does this kind of community offer?
There is mostly detriments because I could never live without my phone and they don't have any technology. If there was a benefit, it would be that they get a break from social media and they can relax with nature, but I would never want to do that.
