Dear Families,

The first week of school (after the break) has come and gone.  I hope that everyone feels more settled now that we're all back at school.

On Monday, we will begin the week with our Monthly Morning Assembly on the blacktop at 8:45am. 

We have Makerspace on Thursday morning at 9am.

On Friday at 9am, we have an assembly in the cafeteria about music. 

Headphones
Before Spring Break, I told the children that they could take their headphones home.  I thought they might need them for any long car/airline trips but now I need to bring them back.  We will be spending some time using Raz Kids in the classroom. It would be helpful for them to use it during the read aloud portion.

Water Bottles

As the weather gets warmer and dryer, students may bring water bottles into the classroom.  If you can send your child to school with a leak-proof and spill-proof container, I would appreciate it. Lately there have been a lot of accidents with water bottles,

Looking Ahead...

April 23: It is Collaboration Day for the First Grade teaching team.  A substitute teacher will be with the students in the morning. I will be with them at 11:30am.
April 27: Career Day, 9am-12pm.  There was an e-mail sent out by Heidi Pancake, a Farragut parent and chairperson of the event,and she asked for volunteers.  I've observed the event in the past and it's so much fun to meet the amazing parents in our community.  (Did you know that we have an 3-time Olympic athlete in our midst?) So, if you can, please sign up. 
May 3 and 4: Early dismissal at 1:45pm for Targeted Parent Conferences.
May 4: Field Trip to the Skirball Center

Everyone--every parent and child--enjoyed their trip to the Skirball Center. It was a wonderful experience to have the whole Noah's Ark exhibit to ourselves and to explore and play with everything. The docents (guides) entertained and educated us with a great puppet show about how we can help our friends and others in our community. The docents also guided us in small groups through each of the areas and assisted the students in exploring all the different activities.  

Thank you to the Room 10 parents-- Elena, Kathleen and Hilarie--for taking time off from work to help chaperone our last field trip of the year.

I will upload some photos from the field trip to Shutterfly. I took a few photos and videos and I will post them on Padlet too.
