2. Taíno- These people came from the Bahamas and South America. They speak the Taíno language but have converted to Spanish. They practiced the god of zemís but, like before, have ocnverted to Catholic because of assimilation.

2. Baseball has become a major sport in the DR and many players have gone onto the MLB. Likewise, Hip/Hop has taken off in the younger population of the DR.

In this article, the DR's government is stripping away citizenship of thousands of people with connections to Haiti. This is because of the tensions between the two groups of people and their people. The UN is not approving of this decision because this will affect 3 generations of people.
