In 1901 the brother had enough data to build their aircraft they would later use to fly. As they begin to build their plane they found problems such as not finding the right motor for it, they then found they would have to build a motor themselves. After some success on December 17, 1903 they decided to take the plane on a test run and were successful. This earthquake quickly destroyed cable cars, building, roads, and even water networks. This earthquake sadly also caused fires which quickly spread and lasted for over 3 days, this was because the firefighters could simply do nothing about the fire because of the damaged water networking systems. It is known that the earthquake caused over 3,000 death and destroyed many peoples homes. Many people were left homeless and were forced to camp out in tents and or seek shelter in offering places. Years later with the help of insurances San Francisco was able to rebuild most building and recover loses. She first heard about the Red Cross when she visited Europe after the civil war. She returned home and campaigned for an American Red Cross which the us ratified in 1882. The American red crossed received it first congressional character in 1990. Prior to the First World War the Red Cross into rude cues it’s public health nursing program ,first aid and water safety program.
