Mary Mulligan, part of the 2018 graduating class, has taken her ChemE degree in a unique direction, heading straight for the world's most diverse tropical rainforests! She is currently doing a double degree PhD in tropical forestry at the University of Goettingen in Germany and IPB University in Indonesia, in which she is working to design a biodiversity monitoring program for a national park in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Her and her crew made a short documentary (~20 minutes) about her fieldwork, describing the one year spent adventuring deep into the national park to measure a set of tree diversity plots and discovering new orchid species.
