Some people are concerned that we are not deepening our Torah teachings, and that we are not teaching enough of our history. My concern is that maybe we forgot to teach Hebrew as a language.

The problem I see is that my students only connect Hebrew with Torah and Judaics. By not approaching the children's stories and Young Adult novels in Hebrew, the classic songs and poems of the XX century we are neglecting the connection with Jewish culture that can bring a deeper understanding of what is Israel today.

First, children with different levels of Hebrew in the same class, (either because of learning problems or because they are new to the school) generate a lot of frustration, both for the teachers and students. The first one is because they have to plan how to teach in a differentiated way, and for students, because they do not feel on par with their peers.

Second, children prefer to learn English rather than Hebrew. Despite being a Jewish school, they are not identified with the language.
Finally, we have many behavior problems because anxiety and impulsivity levels in children increased significantly after the pandemic.
