Just the thought of being dumped before her wedding is freaking her out. Everyone is frantically trying to find Lucentio. Although the characters are stressed out, this is humorous to the audience. It is part of Shakespeare's comedies that make us laugh. While Kate and Baptista are freaking out, Tranio is trying to calm them down.
