Have another person put his or her hand at the bottom of the ruler and have them ready to grab the ruler (however, they should not be touching the ruler). Tell the other person that you will drop the ruler sometime within the next 5 seconds and that they are supposed to catch the ruler as fast as they can after it is dropped. Record the level (inches or centimeters) at which they catch the ruler Test the same person 3 to 5 times (vary the time of dropping the ruler within the 5 second "drop-zone" so the other person cannot guess when you will drop the ruler).   • 1 containers of apple juice
  • Red and green food coloring
  • small, clear plastic cups
  • test subjects
  • Paper
  • Pencil
Experiment
  1. With the food coloring, dye 1/3 of container of juice red and 1/3 container of juice green.
  2. Pour a couple of inches of juice into each cup so that you have 1 red juice, 1 cup of green juice, and 1 cup of uncolored juice per test subject from you bubble.
  3. Place one cup of each colour of juice in front of a test subject.
  4. Ask your subject to taste the red juice and tell you what flavour it is.
  5. Ask your subject to taste the green juice and tell you what flavour it is.
  6. Ask your subject to taste the uncoloured juice and tell you what flavour it is.
  7. Record their answers.
  8. Repeat steps 3 to 7 for all of your subjects.
  9. Analyse your results. Did the colour of the juice affect your subjects’ perceptions of their flavours? Did people mis-identify the flavours in keeping with the colours. (For example: Did they think the red juice tasted like fruit punch or cherry?)
