This was on page 3. This is when the main character first learns about Michael's death and he learns Michael killed himself. This causes emotional suspense for the main character. It later causes the character development that he is shy.

I think this shows an important reason for his letters. It means that the purpose of the book is self-discovery. The character doesn't know how he feels, so he writes to find out how he feels to process it. This quote was on page 2.

I notice that in every letter he calls whoever he's writing to "friend," and nothing else. This makes me think that he doesn't know who he's writing to, and I think that the anonymity gives him comfort and confidence. it allows him to participate in his own life. Calling the anonomy person he's writing to "friend" might be because he is lonely. He lost his best friend and he didnt have anyone else. The quote is found on page 2.

"My oldest brother was on television and so far it has been the highlight of my two weeks."

This reveals how Charlie and his brother's relationship is. It shows that they are close and he misses his brother. This also means he hasn't had a good two weeks. It talks about how he is lonely and hopes to make a friend. Losing a friend and being lonely can make you feel out of place and like you do not belong. This is on page 9.

Meeting Patrick and Sam

When Charlie meets Patrick and Sam on page 19 it reveals more of his character because he kind of comes out of his shell and it the most at that point of the book he talks to other people. He seems happier and we get to see who he is as a person, not just a story teller.
