1800s
The expansion of voting rights consisted of the government giving delegates per state by population; local elections elected delegates that would vote on behalf of the that district. If there were to be a tie, the House of Representatives would decide on the President and the Senate would for the Vice President. This allowed the government to have the overall last word; it took away complications and continuous results and ties.

1803-1819
The New States were gained from the Louisiana Purchase(1803) & Florida Purchase(1819). During the Louisiana Purchase, the U.S expanded into the Ohio River Valley, western half of the Mississippi River and more land bargained for $15 million. The Florida Purchase was a negotiation with Spain, gaining Florida and Oregon territory. This confirmed the implied powers of the government from the Constitution. This was pretty good feelings because they were able to gain new land for good bargains & power was used for good results as well as being able to expand.

General Jackson was commissioned by the president to pursue any raiders into the Spanish west Florida, although he did much more like destroying villages and hanging Seminole chiefs. Because Spain was afraid of the U.S seizing Florida while being preoccupied with Latin America troubles, they negotiated a treaty with the U.S, giving up all possessions in Florida and claims in Oregon Territory in exchange for $5 million as the U.S also agreed to give up any U.S territorial claims to the Spanish province of Texas. This gave the U.S power & the nation security; it was extremely good feeling as U.S had been able to make an easy negotiation and got what was wanted easily with no fighting/war and was able to expand as well.

1816
Henry Clay's idea to recharter the BUS. It ultimately failed due to it tightening credit trying to control inflation. State banks closed, unemployment, bankruptcies, and imprisonment for debt skyrocketed. It also changed many westerner's political views, calling for land reform and strong opposition to the national bank & debtors' prisons. This ultimately showed the BUS was inefficient; the second BUS was a total fail and did not benefit anyone.

1819
The Panic of 1819 was caused by the recharter of the BUS, the Federalist party dying out while causing the only part left, the Democratic-Republican party, to have lots of controversy as many members had so many different views and opinions. For example, some members already adapted Federalist ideas like maintaining a large army, while others, like Daniel Webster, strongly opposed tariffs in 1816 & 1824 but supported even higher tariff rates in 1828. This showed the economy falling apart, while giving it a turning point of turning away from the BUS and old ideas.

1820
The split of the Rep. party started to happen as the Federalist party began to die out. Being the only party left, everyone had only themselves to argue with. Some members had old Federalist ideas like maintaining a large army and strongly opposing taxes. Other members were very reversed, like Daniel Webster, disliking both taxes of 1816 & 1824 but wanted higher tariffs in 1828. John C Calhoun was also a reversed position. This expanded ideas to the government since everyone had different views and opinions. Sectionalism was strong.

For example, during the War of 1812, they were completely opposed to it. The party was very out of step with the "nationalistic temper of the times". This was able to take away the division of political parties and ideas, unifying everyone.

1820
With a balance of 11 slave and 11 free states, Missouri becoming either one would throw the balance out, southern senators could block legislation they believed threatened their interests. If it became a slave state, it alarmed the North and benefited the South. So, Henry Clay represented Missouri as a slave-holding state, Maine as a free state, and prohibited slavery in the rest of the Louisiana Territory north of latitude 36° 30'. This began sectional conflict about what to do with the very heavy topic of slavery.

1823
The U.S and British had a common interest in being protected from European aggression power. George Canning proposed the "Anglo-American" joint to warn European powers not to intervene in South America. Monroe and most of his advisers wanted to accept the joint, but believed joint action would restrict U.S opportunities for further expansion. So, President Monroe followed up on Adams reasoning which was if the U.S acted alone, the British could be counted upon to back up the U.S policy and if the European powers were to risk going to war, the British navy could defeat it. The Monroe Doctrine ultimately declared the U.S would not be considered as subjects for future colonization by any European powers. This asserted the U.S' independence and established no foreign affairs.

1825
The completion of the Erie Canal was a major event linking economics of Western farms & Eastern cities. It stimulated economic growth, and caused a frenzy canal-building in other states. It lowered food prices in the East, more immigrants settling in the West, and stronger economic ties between both places. This was significant to spurring Western movement and was a great mount of good feelings as it was moving to the West as wanted and created new transportation while having no consequences.

After examining the key events and concepts from this period, this was actually an era of good feeling. Many good resulting events overruled. For example, during 1803-1819, the U.S was able to gain land and expand greatly for good bargains. The Louisiana Purchase allowed the U.S to expand into the Ohio River Valley, the western half of Mississippi River and more land for $15 million. The Florida Purchase allowed the U.S to easily gain all of Spain's possessions in the Florida and claims in Oregon Territory. The U.S was able to expand their land, benefitting any agricultural expansion by providing needed resources, like land and water sources. It also confirmed the implied powers of the government through the Constitution to make decisions as needed- this showed to the citizens that the government could indeed control their power and use it to benefit. This was overall beneficial, giving growth for the long run.
