Our way of loving is everlasting and one of a kind. As queer folk, we are constantly threatened to be put in our place and assimilate to the dominant, white cis-heteronomative norms. However, even when we know the hardships and the heartbreaks that go against a repressive system of oppression, we know that at the end of the day is worth the sacrifice because of the fulfillment of being able to be ourselves. Where there are no limitations in the way you want to express yourself and in which we all encourage one another to reach our fullest potential in order to strive for joy and peace of oneself. In this current world there are a lot of limitations and a lot of categorizing that are too small for people. From my experiences of the people around me is that they take love for granted. When I have seen straight people in relationships there is no sense of value or even appreciation for another. I believe this comes from assimilation of feeling like being in a heteronormative relationship is what one needs to do. But as a queer individual I was not afforded the privilege to take love for granted. Being able to love another woman for me has been the most freeing experience as well as being incredibly vulnerable. With her I feel safe, I feel cared for, I feel fulfilled. I am constantly influenced by queer folk in paving new possibilities for me to exist in and I strive to do the same work. In addition, it also means to me deep and compassionate love for one another not only romantically but also platonically and even in families of any type.
