eTwinning is a community for schools, an online space where schools can collaborate. eTwinning provides a safe and free platform for teachers and pupils across Europe to work together on projects, discuss in online groups, exchange best practice and develop their professional skills.

This eTwinning project, running for one academic year (from October to May), guides children to discover space through play, creativity, and exploration. The young participants will learn about the secrets of the Solar System, the Sun, the Moon, planets, and astronauts through a rich program of age-appropriate activities: lectures by astrophysicists, storytelling, scientific experiments, and art workshops.

Each month will focus on a specific theme, aiming to stimulate curiosity, imagination, and teamwork. Activities such as drawing, building rockets, creating a shared picture book, singing songs, and conducting experiments will foster the development of creativity and social skills.

The involved partners will share photos, videos, and digital exhibitions on the eTwinning platform, thereby strengthening cultural exchange and cooperation.

A particularly significant aspect is that this marks the first shared eTwinning project for the ICS Sellia Marina Institute, featuring the inaugural participation of kindergarten children, a primary school class, and the first-year classes of the lower secondary school.

Project Goals:

• Spark an interest in science and the joy of learning.

• Stimulate curiosity and a spirit of exploration.

• Develop creativity and imagination through art, music, and research.

• Learn basic concepts related to space and its underlying physics.

• Strengthen the digital skills of both students and educators.

• Promote international cooperation and an awareness of a shared European citizenship.

Expected Outcomes:
Students will learn basic physics concepts and create various artistic works (posters, models, drawings). Together with the partner schools, a joint picture book and a digital exhibition will be created, consolidating cooperation through the eTwinning platform.

EARTH il pianeta terra, quello che i bambini sentono più vicino perchè è la loro casa. Gli alunni della scuola dell'infanzia di via Frischia hanno ascoltato storie e racconti, scoperto che la terra è una palla che fa un girotondo su se stessa ed arriva il giorno e la notte, per farlo impiega 24 ore. visto che la terrà è proprio una brava bellerina che non si ferma mai gira pure attorno al sole, cosi cambiano le stagioni e arrivano autunno, inverno, primavera ed estate, per fare tutto questo giro impiega un anno.

Planet Earth, the one that children feel closest to because it is their home. The pupils of the nursery school on Via Frischia listened to stories and tales, discovered that the Earth is a ball that spins around itself and brings day and night, taking 24 hours to do so. Since the Earth is truly a good dancer that never stops, it also revolves around the sun, causing the seasons to change and bringing autumn, winter, spring, and summer. To complete this whole journey, it takes a year.

Phase 2: Group poster using cool colors like blue, light blue, gray, and white, brushes, and creativity.

The children showed great interest.

Attività condivisa tra tutte le scuole partner: realizzazione di un eBook sulle regole per la sicurezza in rete, con l’obiettivo di informare e fornire indicazioni chiare e utili.

In una prima fase sono stati visionati video informativi dedicati all’eSafety. Successivamente si è svolto un momento di confronto e riflessione sui comportamenti corretti, sui consigli e sulle attenzioni da adottare durante la navigazione online. A questa fase sono seguite proposte relative alla regola da elaborare e all’immagine da realizzare per rappresentarla in modo chiaro ed efficace.

Eliciting phase to explore prior knowledge, followed by watching informative videos. Then, students discussed safe online behavior, shared tips, and proposed ideas for the image representing the chosen rule. The activity ended with interactive games on the topic.

Then, on an A3 sheet with a black-and-white outline of The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh printed on it, they glued the small pieces of paper using a mixture of water and vinyl glue, creating a mosaic. To reproduce the image, they observed the painting displayed on the digital interactive whiteboard in the classroom.

The children took turns several times while working with their teacher, who later completed the mosaic by applying a coat of glossy finisher to protect and enhance the final artwork.
