-In an interview, your posture tells whether you are interested, engaged, have professionalism, and are attentive. Poor posture can convey insecurity or disinterest.

-Facial expressions may or may not convey the verbal response the interviewee is trying to express. A warm smile is an example of being open and friendly, a cold frown will make you appear closed off, unapproachable, and not interested.

-Hand gestures make your key points more memorable. Leaning forward and nodding give the impression the interviewee is actively listening.

Eye Contact

Keeping appropriate eye contact with the interviewee conveys to them that you are listening and understanding what they are saying. Doing so will help you respond verbally in an appropriate manner.

During my next interview I will practice keeping eye contact, to make me seem more confident and suitable for the position.

Tone

Keeping an even, confident, and engaging tone produces positive impressions and conveys your message to the interviewer in an appropriate manner.

I will be conscious of my tone during my interview, I have in the past been a fast anxious talker that makes it hard for my listeners to understand me fully. Taking the conscious effort to slow down and enunciate will help me get further in my future careers.

Appearance

How you dress and present yourself in an interview represents that you are confident, professional, and ready to verbalize your interest in the position. Dressing for success enhances credibility and knowledge in the workforce.

During my next interview I will make sure to plan my outfit beforehand, make sure that it is appropriate, exudes confidence, and I am dressed for the job I want.

Distance

Proxemics speaks to the interviewer by having understanding of personal space and body language. You are also able to fluctuate your tone appropriately with the distance between you and the interviewer.

Active Listening

With active listening, interviewers show engagement with asking clarifying questions, responding appropriately to questions, and acknowledging the speaker. Nonverbally active listening is presented through positive facial expressions, good posture, and body language that shows you are listening to learn and respond appropriately.
