Pocket on the other hand is a mainly text-based information curation platform. It allows users to save content such as articles, videos and websites to their Pocket account so that they can read them at a later time and tag saved content to organise it as they wish. They can read the content in Pocket, as well as go to the source. The app gives users recommendations for content to read or save based on what is popular with other users in the Discover section, and Recommendations based on the user’s activity similar to Pinterest. There is a visual aspect to the posts with a header image above the content title, though it is not as integral to the information offered as the visuals would be on Pinterest; it is more so to try to attract users to the article. Though, unlike Pinterest, Pocket offers an offline functionality where users can download their saved posts to read without internet access and a premium version with certain benefits like being advertisement-free.

For this privacy policy, I took a look at the pre-existing policy for Pinterest, gathered what I did and did not like about it, and tailored it accordingly. This also took into account the research of Anderson (2017). I liked how people-friendly the language used was, and that the policy itself was not tremendously long however I did condense it down further. I had an emphasis on being able to remove personal data, what happens to it when in use by Pinterest as well as what happens when it is no longer needed. The safety of children on the site was another concern, as well as not being secretive about changes to the Privacy Policy, and being accessible to contact should there be any issues. Preferably, this short form policy would link to a more in-depth version should people wish to read about the policy in more detail.
