Cornelia Arnolda Johanna ten Boom (Corrie) was born to a loving Christian family on April 15, 1892, in Harlem, Netherlands. She is the youngest child with two older sisters and one older brother. Her father is Casper ten Boom and her mother is also named Cornelia ten Boom. Her three aunts also lived with them.

May 10, 1940 Germany occupies Holland

Germany defeats and occupies Holland. The ten Booms decide not to turn in their radio with the others. The Jews are starting to be treated badly, and the ten Booms are starting to think up ways to help in any way they can.

February 28, 1944: The ten Booms are Captured

The ten Boom family was betrayed and arrested by the police. Corrie and her family went to prison. Her dad died a couple of days later on March 9th. Corrie, because of her sickness is placed in solitary confinement for about THREE months! Most of Corrie's family was released shortly after getting captured, but Betsie stayed along with Corrie.

September 1944, Corrie and Betsie taken to Ravensbrück

After being in prison for a couple of months, Corrie was taken to a prison camp where she endured much hard work. In September she was taken to Ravensbrück concentration camp with her sister Betsie where they endured unimaginable hardships.

1945-1977: Corrie travels the world speaking for God

After the war, Corrie spent most of her life traveling the world and teaching others how God had worked through her life to make a difference in others' lives. She made a huge difference for God!

1971: 'The Hiding Place' (a book about Corrie's life) is published.

Corrie co-authored The Hiding Place, a book about her early life and her life through the war. It has sold over 3 million copies to date. It has affected and inspired many people including me.

April 15, 1983: Corrie ten Boom's Death

On April 15, 1983, Corrie ten Boom went to Jesus on her 91st birthday. She impacted millions of people throughout her life and is still impacting people today. She was a great hero in many people's physical and spiritual lives. She helped many people see God.

December 16, 1944: Betsie ten Boom dies of malnutrition

After enduring over 3 months of hardships in Ravensbrück concentration camp, Betsie ten Boom passes away from malnutrition. Corrie is devastated but also very happy that she is with the Lord.

December 31, 1944: Corrie released from Ravensbrück

After enduring almost four months in Ravensbrück concentration camp, Corrie ten Boom is released due to a clinical error. Shortly after her release all of the women her age are killed. Her release was definitely a way you can see God and how he wasn't done with her yet. She spends the rest of her life teaching others about God.

1949: Corrie opens a rehabilitation center in a former concentration camp for people affected by the war.
