Martin Cooper came up with the brilliant idea of inventing a cell phone, which we all can say we are happy about. 
According  to google, he said that watching Captain Kirk using his communicator on the television show Star Trek inspired him with a stunning idea, to develop a handheld mobile phone. He and his team took only 90 days in 1973 to create the first portable cellular phone.

Thomas Edison was thought a kid that was the exact opposite of a genius, like him trying to hatch an egg by squatting on it. Also, when he worked on trains he had his own laboratory at the bagging area, and set the train on fire. He found a job with the Associative Press, but was fired due to working on experiments during work time. Edison kept on working and invented the light bulb, and became the Wizard of Menlo Park. Also, Bill Gates did some amazing things. As a kid, he bragged to everybody that he'd be a millionaire by 30, but became one at 31! This proved his perseverance to prove the laughing kids wrong. He said this famous quote: "I failed in some subjects in exam, but my friend passed in all. Now he is an engineer in Microsoft and I am the owner of Microsoft." This meant that Bill Gates had persevered. Some include as creative, smart, and others. You have to have those qualities to be an engineer. Creativity comes with how you want to do something and what makes it unique and helpful. Without creativity it would be almost impossible to be a designeer with ideas and solutions. Being smart is the most needed quality. HWen you are an engineer being smart is what makes you an accomplished engineer. Smart is very broad though. So many characteristics go into it.
