I have always wanted to be a teacher, I would always pick to play teacher and student when I was younger. However, the real moment that I knew it was what I wanted to pursue, was my senior year in my PALS class. I met my teacher Mrs. Jennifer, she was a teacher for special ed students. I was one of the pals and I was able to experience first hand what a classroom is like and be able to participate in teaching the students and it was the happiest I had been in all my school years. I knew that moment that what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I loved being able to connect with them, create a bond, and be able to teach them.

The most impacting teacher I've had the opportunity to learn from was my PALS teacher, my senior year. She always took teaching to a different level, a effective way of learning. She taught is in a meaningful way, in a way she knew would allow for us to grasp what we were learning. That is something I want to take into my own classroom, I want to teach my students in a meaningful way, I want to understand the way my kids learn and use that to their advantage when teaching them. She always made sure she was connected with her students and that she was a teacher that they felt comfortable with. Which is also something that I want to bring to my classroom, I want my kids to be able to count on me and be comfortable with me.

I find it so interesting the way a child is absorbent of all the knowledge that is being taught to them. As well as how many ways there is to teach a child, there are so many techniques that can be used with individual kids. I find it so interesting and it excites me to be able to try teaching techniques on kids and learning what works for certain kids and what doesn't work for others.

Explain the importance of diversity and how will you support it in your work

Diversity is one of the most important things in life, in society, in our work place, in our every day life. We are all human beings and it is important to give importance to each person, each unique person. There is diversity everywhere, we live in diversity, That is what makes it so important, we live with it, we should cherish it, we should embrace it. I will always make it an importance to show diversity and to include it in my work. The best way is to show the kids what diversity is and what it means in the real world, include it in their interactions because thats where they will learn what diversity is hands on. As well as including family because thats another way the children will be able to see what diversity means hands on, being able to see different cultures, different families and i think that is very important because then they know that diversity is normal and it should always be a part of their lifes.

What do I need to do to better prepare for working with children

The two biggest factors that will help me be better prepared to work with children would be to further my education and to also get training, get hands on experience. I need to further my education because there is still so much I have to learn, this is one the base of what I can learn. I think its better to have a bigger amount of knowledge of what you will be doing, these kids future is in our hands, if we are not doing it well it would all be a waste. The second factor is to get real hand on experience in a classroom, this is important because you get a base idea for when you do start your own job with your own classroom. You get to have an idea of how to handle a classroom and what will work with you and what might not.

Explain how you feel you can make a contribution to the field of Early Childhood Education and why?

I believe that with every teacher, we believe that our biggest contribution is teaching all the children we can. They are the face of the future. However, personally I would love to contribute in ways that shape what Early Childhood Education can be, I want to be able to use methods I like and shape them to be something I believe can work for other teachers as well. I think as teachers we should be able to in a way include our thought and opinions into what the Early Childhood Education field is. I want to provide not only knowledge but help be someone for the kids I will one day teach. Someone they can count on, someone they believe in, I want to make a change to this field whether it be to the field itself or to one child I might impact one day.
