So, a "con" against the turkey as the national symbol is that it gets hunted and eaten. It is hard to want to be like that. A national symbol should be inspiring.

One "pro" in favor of the bald eagle as the national symbol is that the bald eagle was almost extinct and is now coming back. That's a good inspirational story.
