         <description><![CDATA[<div>-memory is state dependent<br>-Information goes in one ear and out the other until you purposely memorize it<br>- memory is a process like a computer (retrieval is like the screen; you store in the hard drive; and you encode through the typing)<br>-to store something you have to make meaning of it<br>-Atkinson Shiffrin Model<br><br>Examples:<br>quizzes that are recognition are multiple choice,<br>tests that are FRQs are recalling<br><br>3 Stage Memory Model:<br>Sensory Memory- everything around you all the time, you encode it but you do not store it in your memory until you make sense of it<br><br>Auditory lasts longer than visual<br>Has a very large capacity<br>Visual Memory- Iconic Memory<br>Auditory Memory- Echoic Memory<br><br>Short Term Memory- Working or Primary Memory (always changing, actively using it)<br>Sensory memory goes to STM or Short-Term memory storage which (through elabrative rehearsal- oges to LTM) (encodes and goes to LTM)<br>or Goes from LTM&nbsp;<br><br>5-9 items (limit capacity in STM)<br><br>Memories can be lost if not rehearsed enough (maintenance rehearsal -Rote Rehearsal)<br><br>LTM- long term memory<br>driving a car (elaborative rehearsal)<br>LTM has an unlimited capacity<br>And is relatively permanent&nbsp;<br><br>Sensory Registers- waiting rooms<br>has a really large capacity but info only lasts a rew seconds<br>'<br><br>(EXAMPLE- I saw a yellow taxi, it was in the city, i saw one big face with 4 smaller colorful faces above it)&nbsp;<br>Cocktail party- phenomenon = select infor is sent on to short term memory</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-STM capacity can be increased and retention improved by chunking and rote rehearsal<br>-STM also called working memory or primary memory is much more than just a passive temporary holding area<br>- bashful, sneezy, sleepy, dopey, grumpy,&nbsp;<br>- Explicit Memories: memory of facts and experiences that one can know and declare (knowing vocab terms for school)<br>-Implicit Memories: retention of memories without even consiously knowing (singling lyrics to a song without knowing)<br>Procedural: long term memory on how to preform procedures(driving a car, do not have to think about it)<br>Semantic Memory:recalling known knowledge, knowing common stuff (christmas tree is christmas) like knowing basic facts<br>Classically conditioned memory: conditioned response to a conditioned stimulus,<br>Episidic Memory:<br>a persons unique memory to a specific event, one persons will be different from anothers<br>Flashbulb Memory:vivid enduring memory of how one remembers an event (9/11)<br>you feel like your right back in the same spot<br>Eidedic Memory- photo graphic memory, vividly recalling memories<br>"claim to have this type of memory"<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Jill Price had an amazing memory, she was able to recall every memory she ever had or experienced. This woman had a superior ability to not forget. Superior Autobiographical Memory - rare case that many people have.<br>Psychogenic amnesia- when a person cannot remember things and there is no bodily basis for their forgetting<br><br>-Watching the different videos on retrograde amnesia, antiograde amnesia.<br><br>-Sean completely forgot his own identity, he was a stranger in his own home. Why did this happen to him? Why does he have such a severe dissociative amnesia w// fugue?&nbsp;<br>The stress that he was going through because of the wedding and the crash of his friend, and guilt of leaving for his honey moon all combined to create memory loss</div>]]></description>
