Tybalt is apart of the Capulet family.

Tybalt's Personality in a Nutshell...

Tybalt is known for his ferocious temperament and violent ways by Shakespeare fans and characters in Romeo & Juliet alike. One can easily compare 

Tybalt to the sins of Wrath and Pride. 

Tybalt is always looking for a fight and obviously if he's looking for someone to fight, he loves to fight. 

He also takes immense pride in the Capulet name. Despite the fact he is not a blood relative of the Capulet family. (Tybalt married into the Capulet family.) 

Tybalt actively despises and reviles the Montague household. 

He wishes he could wipe out the members of the Montague household.

Tybalt's Emotions:

He's quite the volatile fellow. 

His fierce temperament and violent nature leads to what one would expect when confronted by his 'sworn enemies' in the streets of Verona. 

Tybalt does what any rational gentlemen would do. 

He pulls out his long pointy stick, also known as a sword. 

Tybalt clashes swords with Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio, three Montagues. 

Tybalt's rage leads him to slay a member of Montague house, Mercutio. 

In a fit of rage Romeo strikes down Tybalt in the street using his blade.

Tybalt's death is one of the driving force in the narrative and is more than likely responsible for the not so happily ever after yet to come. Tybalt is a bastard, but that is to be expected with how his character is set up and the role he plays. Tybalt is the antagonist. An antagonist can't be pleasant and helpful. That would make him perhaps a tritagonist. But alas, for there to be plot, Tybalt had to cross the line. Tybalt when he appeared in the streets of Verona to confront Romeo, was also there to light a match under the plot to get it moving. Tybalt's total appearances may be slim, but without him, the most famous love story ever told would've been much different. Who knows, if Tybalt was never there, would it have been a joyous ending?
