1. Karana,  Karana  is a strong courageous and caring girl who looks out for her people family friends etc.. 

Examples of her showing this trait was when she spotted her brother roaming around the shore when the tribe was already setting sail into sea and jumped out of the boat to swim to the shore just that so she can be with his brother. 

2. Ramo:  Ramo in this chapter was a quite foolish because on what he did, he hopped out of the ship to get his fishing spear without anyone knowing thus leading Karana and Ramo alone in the island. 

( Examples of him showing traits of foolishness was again when he hopped out the boat without telling anyone just to get his fishing spear creating a huge problem in the upcoming chapter. )

The arrival of the Four foreign men led to the tribe being able to set sail to a new island for a new home for the tribe.




2: The tribe are starting to pack their materials while Nanko informs Karana that Ramo was already on the ship with the four white men.

3: When Karana and others went on the ship Ramo said that he left his fishing sphere. He went off trying to get it then the ship was to far from shore. Later Karana realizes  that they left Ramo, Karana told Cheif Matasaip that Ramo got left behind. What is the main conflict of the story? 

 In the story the people of Ghalas - at are preparing to set sail with the four white men in those two boats, Karana was told that her little brother Ramo was already in the ship. 

When the boat bobbed around the sand and began to set sail Karana sees a small little boy roaming and running around the beach and realizes that little boy was his little brother Ramo.

Karana begged to the tribe leader ( Matasaip ) to return back to the island but her wishes were not granted. Sooo Karana decided that she would jump out of the ship and swim back to the shore thus leading Karana and Ramo left behind in the island with no one else to accompany them. 

( Simple answer : Karana and Ramo were left behind due to Ramo hopping out of the ship without anyone realizing making Karana have to swim back to the shore meaning that the tribe would leave them behind )

She is a strong and smart one for sure!

actualy dogs🤓: They were the dangerous animals on the island, and they were VERY violent. Karana also had to be careful of them.

Karana couldn't live in the village because it had to much haunting memories, so she decided to burn all the houses so that there wouldn't be nothing left of it, so there were only ashes left in the village of Ghalas-at. She then made a new home in Coral cove, far away from the wild dogs and she brought food and more resources  to keep her alive there without any issues. It was a very safe place from the wild dogs, so she did not have much trouble on living there. it was a great home.

2. Karana had lots of time to make weapons to protect herself from the wild dogs, because she had felt that they might kill her, so she is going to kill the rest, one by one. She soon found bow and arrows, and a large spear to protect herself since her old spear, or the spear which she took from the slain dog was too small. Since the laws of Ghalas-at forbid women from making weapons, Karana went to look for some that might be left in the village. She went back to the village to look for some weapons, and some food and water. Unfortunately, she failed. She then remembered that there were a chest the Aleuts brought to the shore, but did not bring back. She then went to search for it, and she thought it was below a Ledge that she and Ulape were standing on while they were watching the battle.

3. She started digging to look for the chest, she hit something as she was digging, she thought it was a rock but she kept digging, just to be sure it could be a chest, she was correct, it was a black lid of a chest. it was close to the sea or ocean, so she got ready for waves while she was digging, so that it wouldn't be hidden or gone anymore. she soon got the chest, it was filled with multiple jewelry. such as beautiful bracelets and beads. She tried to use some, and she thought that "these don't belong to the Aleuts, these belong to me." yet, she still decided to take it off anyway. Her main focus was weapons anyway, but since she couldn't find any, she gave up on the search and decided to rest. she had not thought of the weapons for a while, until the dogs came over below the rock. They knew that Karana was there, somewhere, so they tried looking for her. Karana knew it was impossible for them to get Karana, but she was still worried anyway. Karana - Karana was a risk-taker and was very brave to take out on the sea on a canoe alone, she was using the knowledge that she had so she could survive and prevent getting killed by the wild dogs.

☉ Karana left the island with her canoe but in the middle of the adventure the canoe broke there was water in the boat and the boat started to sink but she fixed the canoe. 
☉ Karana was frustrated because her canoe was leaking so she decided to go back to the island because she didn't know what to do and the island was the only close thing to her so she just went back to the island so she wouldn't have any stress to deal with
