The ending is kinda a "make your own ending" type of story because Jonas and baby Gabriel do make it down the snow hill and see a house with people singing and Christmas decor but then it says "but it was only an echo." I like to think they did make it in the house and lived happily. But I also think maybe he and Gabriel died and it's them in the after life.

That's what I felt when I turned 12 last year. I thought I was all that and I felt so cool. I know its not a deep connection but 1. I couldn't find a connection I have to this book and 2.
