Intersectionality emphasizes how different forms of social inequality and oppression interact within one another to create unique experiences and challenges for individuals who belong to multiple marginalized groups. The concept of intersectionality states that an individual can't only be defined by one aspect of their identity, but rather, the intersection of multiple connected identities.
In this Facebook post, we can see how regarding "wage gap" the author of the publication fails two recognize two important aspects of identity: race and gender. The post talks about how "wage gap" does not exist, however, it is very much known how wage gap is a widely known and recognized issue. Intersectionality helps us recognize that the gender gap for an asian woman or a black transgender woman will be even wider for a white cis woman.

Marginalised communities do not only refer to those who are rejected by society for being different, but also to those who because of being a minority in society are not known by most of the people.

Through voice and agency, it is given a space in the media for people to share their personal experiences in their daily life as a member of a marginalised community.

Most of the time, this experiences are not shared to public, but go more to private social media groups, where people from different parts of the world with the same ideologies, cultures or conditions can share between them and create a safe and confortable space.

Challenging Power Dynamics

Social recognizition can involve the challenging and disruption of existing power dynamics. It is important to observe if the posts challenge existing narratives and amplify marginalized groups' voices.

The post we can see depicts the BLM movement in a light that gives representation to the movement and goes against the popular narrative that the protests are excuses for riots and are equivalent to acts against peace such as the siege of the capitol after the electoral results.

Dominant narratives often depict the view of privileged groups.

Social media operates as a way for marginalized communites to have their voice be amplified.

When speaking about migrants, intersectionality studies their ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, geographic location and culture to understand how these features interact, for explaining their experiences and situations.
Migrants representation in social media is mostly indirect. Because of marginalization, among other problems, the majority of them cannot explain their situation or experiences easily. However, there are a lot of organizations and government agencies whose objective is helping and raising the voice of millions of migrants worldwide. In this case, the UN migrant division explains that because of the violence that's happening in Sudan, a million people will have to abandon the territory to seek for safety. It also emphasizes that this human crisis is not getting enough media coverage, increasing vulnerability.
Intersectionality encourages allyship and solidarity, but without enough exposure in social media, it will be harder for people to understand what is going on and how they can take place in the solution. It also works towards a more positive narrative about migration with the intention of creating a more inclusive representation.

Overall, there are many power dynamics involved in migration; we can find the social media posts where they criminalize and stereotype the migrants, but there are also posts (as the tweet presented above) with the intention of helping migrants. Through the correct exposure, little by little migration will be understood with a more positive narrative, ultimately creating a more inclusive, diverse and solitary world.
