This IAT was not accurate for me. When I took this test the first time, I saved the wrong page and so I took the test again. The results were completely opposite the second time as the first time which, in my thinking, makes the results not very accurate because if I truly have a strong automatic preference that should always manifest in a test; however, the first time was only a slight preference. Because of what happened, I'm skeptical about the accuracy of these types of tests.

After taking this IAT, this one is pretty accurate with how I feel. I try to treat all people the same not matter their religious preferences. I recognize and acknowledge that I have very strong religious beliefs and and thankful for the guidance and direction they give me.

Parents involvement in a child's education, I feel, is a very important factor to success in school. As a teacher, an interventionist, and now a school counselor, I have noticed that the more involved a parent or grandparent or any family member is in a child's life and education the more successful they are in accomplishing their goals.

In the article, "A New Typology", I found information and data that support what I have always believed about students being more successful when they have support. The chart on page 4 really stuck out to me because it is set up in quadrants and I feel this will be a great guide as I try to better involve parents in working with their students (McCarthy & Watson, 2018). There are so many ways that I can see using this information. I know that I will need to focus in on a specific area and then build my program from there.

As students learn strategies and skills to be successful in school, parents are a large part of students success in the Middle School and oftentimes they ask what they can do. The purpose of this infographic is to support parents as they help their child to internalize and work with the knowledge they are learning at school. It is both in English and Spanish because many parents of the students I work with speak Spanish and not English.

Lesson Plan

The original lesson plan was found on the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Website. Using the required ASCA template, I put the parts of the original lesson plan into the sections where I thought they would fit best. The lesson plan in its original format can be found at https://dese.mo.gov/media/pdf/ad4-6th-grade-all-units. The original plan has the handouts, etc., that are listed in the materials section of this plan. Any changes I made were made because of what the ASCA template asked. To the best of my knowledge, I transferred the information to the correct areas. Certain information requested in the ASCA template was not specific to the original plan (ie, school counselor and my target audience.)
