It's the age-old question: do you like the Maverick, or the nerf strongarm? The answer may seem obvious to some, but before you just go with whichever one sounds better or looks more interesting to you, there is something to show you. A whole lot of research and testing went into these creations, and that should be acknowledged.

Nerf Strongarm vs Maverick:

Aesthetics:

The Maverick's iconic huge revolver design is particularly popular for all types of aesthetic modifications. Lacking the Maverick's weight, the Strongarm boasts a far more streamlined and useful design. Although I think the Strongarm's paint scheme is superior, aesthetics are entirely a matter of taste, and hence there is no point system for this comparison.

Accessories:

The Maverick and Strongarm each arrive with six darts and themselves. There is a clear pull in this.

Range/Power:

The Maverick is one of the less effective N-Strike blasters, achieving 8 to 9 meters with the suction darts that come with it. Despite being fairly unpredictable, a gray trigger Strongarm often has ranges of 11 to 12 meters.

This battle is won by Nerf Strongarm.

Accuracy:

Although the Maverick’s rotating mech makes its shots less reliable, the suction darts it uses offer it quite decent precision. Despite having a stronger rotating mech, the Strongarm uses Elite darts, which are far less steady and accurate. This round, the Maverick prevails mostly due to the addition of suction darts.

Usability:

Since both blasters are reasonably easy to use, reliability is the key concern we'll talk about here. The Maverick is infamous for having a bad overall design that is prone to jams, misfires, and malrotation. The rotation mech lies at the heart of the Maverick's weaknesses. The rotation is inextricably tied to the trigger, with one half of the rotation occurring upon pulling the trigger and the other half upon releasing it.

The rotating mechanism's extreme unreliability. It frequently slips or gets caught is the issue. The rotating mech of the Strongarm has no such issue. The Strongarm revolves on plunger return rather than trigger movement. Strongarm rotates very consistently due to the very consistent plunger return action, which results in significantly fewer misfires and mis-rotations than Maverick . Naturally the Strongarm wins this round.

Rate of Fire:

Since both blasters are reasonably easy to use, reliability is the key concern we'll talk about here. The Maverick is renowned for being an all-purpose weapon. It can fire at speeds of up to 3dps, but you'll probably experience some misfires and mis-rotations. The Strongarm can create a substantially faster rate of fire because it has slam fire and a far better rotation mech. I've gotten up to a good, consistent 5dps, and anything higher tends to misfire.

This round was also won by Nerf Strongarm.

Capacity:

Both the Mav and the Strongarm have a 6-dart capacity. Another strong attraction.

Value for Money:

Since the Mav and Strongarm were both frequently sold for less than $10 during their peak availability periods, the focus of the value discussion is on the blasters themselves. This round is also won by the Strongarm because it is the superior blaster.

Final verdict:

Nerf Strongarm has won four rounds to the Mav's one. As a result, I deem the Elite Strongarm to be the superior blaster, which is not at all surprising.
